"While criticism is an inevitable part of academic life, what I have experienced has gone far beyond scholarly disagreement." A piece of art in memoriam for Prof Arday. Lost for words.

The image is of a piece of art. The background is made up of strips of hand painted tape which has been stuck to the page to create a dissonant black and white abstract. On top of this there is a quote from Prof Arday's resignation letter in white lettering. The lettering gets larger and more discordant and messy towards the end. It is made up of a mixture of fonts with each letter individually stuck to the page. So they are slightly raised. The quote is, "While criticism is an inevitable part of academic life, what I have experienced has gone far beyond scholarly disagreement."

The ethics literature on visual research is robust, the problem is researchers aren't acting on it. Happy May Day from the UK

A Garland for May Day by Walter Crane. Crane romanticised an English past, but he also adopted the symbolism of the French Revolution, the Paris Commune and the Chicago martyrs in his work. And for May Day he brought all these characters and symbols together to relay the demands of the day, and to advocate for workers rights now.
