Having fun crafting/sewing. In my 9 to 5, working my tail off just like everyone. Hope for a better tomorrow but work hard to make it happen.
Happy Saturday! My friends often ask what happens to the quilts I make. Use them of course. I will swap them around monthly and for the seasons. I have given many away to friends and organizations looking for raffle items. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
On this baseball themed quilt I really like how the back turned out. 108 Kona navy cotton and a fun quilting by MSQC in red thread. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
1st one finished, 4 more to go. Finished size: 73x86 Pattern: Courage by Fabric Cafe (borders modified from original pattern) 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Had to improvise, the weight of the quilt was just too much. Used the chair that I have for no sew projects. Fun, fun, fun. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️🧵☀️🪡💙
The new place has less room for sewing so I had to remove the 2 extra tables from around the sewing machine table. They were helpful when it came to working with heavy items. The pull is a pain but manageable. Oh the joys! 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Thread selected, bobbins full. Now to start and get these 5 quilts finished. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Binding strips cut and one ready to go. Next steps: get these sewn & ironed and then select thread colors and get bobbins ready. I usually prep 3 bobbins for each color I’ll use. These 5 quilts are small enough that I won’t need 4 or 5 bobbins. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Not one of the most interesting selvages I’ve come across. I’ll still add it to my collection of selvages. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Getting 3 quilts ready to be sent for long arming. This one just seemed two small like it was missing something. Add a 4 inch border to give it some length and width. New size: 62x80 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Labels for each quilt completed. I have a Baby Lock Brilliant for lettering. It’s ok, not great but it works. Now on to cutting binding strips. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Before the binding I need to make 5 labels for the quilts. I like this method to add a label to the back of the quilt, 7.5” sq, medium weight interfacing to help when I machine embroidery my name and date. I add to a corner when I’m putting the binding on. ✂️☀️🧵☀️✂️
Ok, it’s been long enough. These 5 quilts need their binding. Not a favorite part of quilting but necessary. I use my machine to add binding, hand sewing would test my patience level. lol 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Spent the morning ironing backing fabric for 3 quilt tops. Not really a fun part but needed before sending them off to be long armed. While ironing I can think about the next project. Have a sewtastic day! 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Completed. I adjusted the size of the 1st & 2nd border, on the 1st border I didn’t have enough of the fabric. Made the second border slightly larger. Size: 64” x 81” Perfect for TV watching. Have a sewtastic day!
Rows together. At this point it’s 54x71 with two borders to be added. Pattern: Crossroads by Fabric Cafe 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
All 9 rows pieced and labeled. Yes I label the rows. You only have to get them out of order once. lol Now to iron the seams and get the rows together. Have a sewtastic day! 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
All blocks ready to go! 2nd pic gives a ruff idea how the rows will be pieced together. Pattern: Crossroads by Fabric Cafe 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Finished cutting the strip sets and now working on block A. This is one of my favorite parts of quilting, very relaxing piecing. Have a sewtastic day! 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Morning! All pieces cut and now comes the strip assembly and those parts will be cut into sections that will form the blocks. Pattern: Crossroads by Fabric Cafe Finished size: 66” x 84” Have a sewtastic day!! 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
I had a bit of the washed rooster fabric left so I thought a quilt and pillow covers would look nice on the living room sofa. After auditioning fabrics I have 3 possibilities. I’m leaning towards the first one. I moved to the pattern selection part. Always an adventure. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Glad to be getting back into creating. I decided to try my hand at curtains for the kitchen. Lined with a light weight muslin. I’m thinking tie backs might be in the future for these. Have a sewtastic day! 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Wondering if anyone has seen this in fabric? Yellow stripes throughout the fabric. I washed and they remained. This is from my mom’s stash so the fabric could be from the 80’s/90’s. Makes the fabric almost unusable. Thanks in advance. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Going through the fabrics & trying to arrange them I came across these 2. I bought the city skyline the summer of 2000, last shopping trip with my mom. The lunar landing is from her stash, I believe she picked it up in 1970/1971. Have a sewtastic day. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
It’s never too early for Christmas. Going over a project with a friend today. It’s one of those maybe, kind of, not sure projects. My favorite kind! 💙☀️🎄🎁🎄🎁🎄☀️💙
Still unpacking and organizing the new sewing area. Less space which is causing challenges. Hopefully it will be in order soon or close to soon as possible. lol 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
I’m going through the fabrics and getting them shelved. I keep coming across what I would call scraps. For me they are too small to do anything with, normally I would toss them. I’m not into making scrappy quilts. I’m open to ideas, not scrappy quilts. lol 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Husky work benches are not just for garages. This one came today for the sewing room. It has 9 drawers, 2 of them fit the thread perfectly. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Took a moment from unpacking and rearranging the sewing room to put together a quick project. This is for a friend who recently reached out to me for a new keychain. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
My goodness how the days/months are rolling along. Lots of life changes, reason for the decline in sewing/crafting posts. That will change soon. Sewing and Crafting have always been my “therapy”. 💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️💙
