This is a new wildflower to my area, the Hibiscus trionum. It opens once in the morning for an hour or two, never opens again, then forms its seeds. It's commonly known as the "flower of an hour". I'm very fond of it.
Lucy says Hi back to you two, too. When she came to live with me she had NEVER had her hair cut or been to the groomer, and they always took her puppies away to sell. This is her after her haircut, just in time for the crazy excess heat here in the US. She's sleeping on the sofa at the moment.
The first thing I thought of is this. Every child brought into the world naked and helpless can be forced int a childhood to become Max Schreck. This is what's going on under the slick-backed hair and the blank face.
Here's my lupins. I gathered some seeds from wild ones I found in Maine and have had them for over thirty years.
Jiggs passed away last fall. We had her with us for a short time, and we were glad to make her time with us happy. She was a swell person. We miss her. This year we have been lucky to meet Lucy, a five year old. She was pretty lonely, I think. But she isn't lonely any more. She's beautiful.
This Israeli soldier sledge-hammering a statue of Jesus shouldn't surprise any but the naivest among us. Israel wants Israel for the Jewish people in the same way that the US wants the US for Christian people. Each is serious about it and support each other. Most of us don't want either of them.
Lucy, I finally got a picture of my beloved. She's lived most of her life outside, but seems to have warmed to being inside with people. I think she has been a very lonely person, and has slept on my sofa for the last two nights with me. She's swell. We think she's a Redline Airedale.
This is a still from a play being shown in Europe, It's The Monster's Paradise. This is how we're seen by the world. And there's about a third of our country that feels no shame about it. Our enemies can do no worse to us.
So, Herr Oberfuhrer Trump's toady asked if the letters sent by his master sounded like they were anything that he might write. Well, the dialogue that goes with the notes and drawing sure do, actually. What pair of lying hypocritical creeps.
LMAO. She cheapens herself (if that can any longer be done) by this crude imitation of Jim Carrey. I'll never be able to watch The Mask again. WaaaaaaH !
My best friend is sleeping, and I just fished doing Wordle. I wish my toes were smaller though. The keyboard is a pain. He calls me Jiggs, but my real name is Sophie.
Wouldn't it be nice to live each day as if it were something to enjoy ? And look forward to friends and companions without a sense of a threat at every moment. This is what life can be, without any struggle to constantly assert your right to live here. Now, think about why we don't have this.
I just read the very sad news of the death of a second child from measles in Texas. Now, two very young people have been lost to their families because the families chose not to vaccinate. I cannot imagine their grief. Nor can I imagine how this man can sleep at night, knowing he is responsible.
My Jiggs is an older girl (previous "owner" called her Jiggs. We don't "own" her. We love her. ) who has been living with us for almost a year. She's a sweet person, and a joy to have with us. She'll be twelve in a while. And we make every day her best day. She's a rescue, a Spairedaile.
Remember, the goose won this fight. If you haven't heard the story. It's true.
