Having folks enjoy board games is our glorious purpose. He/Him in the Mid-western United States. Post beautiful boardgames to #ThirstyCardboard. Pro: FLGS, small publishers, great boardgames, rock climbing, disc golf Con: shelving vertically, gatekeeping.
Horizontal (flat) for sure. I bag my cards but I still want the boards to lay flat to avoid warping. I'm sure folks store them vert. w/ no issues but I don't like it. A lot of games have flat titles on the box too, tho more pubs have them both ways on diff. Sides of the box since people are split.
Every time I take the first player token for the next round in a boardgame.
I'm pairing a boardgame and a book together...going beyond theme to capture the spirit of both. I'd pair: 🎲 Can't Stop (Sid Sackson) + 📚 The Bonfire of the Vanities (Tom Wolf) Both are a series of risky decisions led by hubris that often topple when you are near the top. #booksandboardgames
When your partner is into The Beatles and foundational boardgames.
Looking forward to making some enemies of my friends at boardgame night tonight! It might just be a Cosmic Encounter kind of night.
So how about those boardgames. Pretty great, eh? Having a good time? Now the goal isn't to just have you play next time but to bring 3 friends. This only works if we keep bringing new people and then those people bring new people. And if we get enough people, it becomes a Con.
BoardGameStats has BGG rating if you dig into the game. The + above it is also a rating spot. I don't rate my games anywhere so IDK if that'll feed from BGG or not. You could maybe use tags to mark it as BGA or other wishlist data.
When I truly look at why I need boardgame night in my life.
New merch just dropped. Gotta have shirts that only other boardgame enthusiasts get. Recognize nerds from across the room.
Every time that boardgame night goes late...But really I don't care. I could play all night.
Man this is a sick setup! Cosmic is the best. I manage to jam my multiple expansions into the base box, but it is FULL.
I have a modern version Dizzy Dizzy Dinosaur. It still holds up.
Lighter fare this last month for boardgames. A ton of team games. Super fun as we get into Summer & friends veer off to do other fun nonsense. Smaller numbers = heavier stuff back to the table. Fun fact, the leader this month won 4/6 team games on the only night they came, giving them a 67% win %.
Alright this is my last post to brag about winning my third Championship in the doubles ping pong tourney that my friend holds every year. 14 teams.
Today's the big Ping Pong tourney that my friend hosts. Going for my third Championship in 4 years. Wish me luck!
Roll for the Galaxy scratches all of the right boardgame itches for me. I really need to get it to the table again. ✅ Rolling large amounts of dice ✅ Educated guess on what action opponents will choose ✅ Bag builds stronger as game continues ✅ Custom dice ✅ Pretty! #ThirstyCardboard
I used to roll my eyes at folks when they mentioned boardgame table mats, but wow it's nice to play on one. Just better to roll the dice on and soooo much easier to pick up a single card.
Got to play some of my favorite boardgames this month! Space Base, Suburbia, PitchCar, and even Small World. Glad to get them back to the table.
This is the first time I've done a solo playthrough of any boardgame I've started to design and haven't hated it. This one might have legs. 🎲 ✂️
Ha. I have dice. I need time to play boardgames with people.
It's a boat deck of cards. Love introducing the kiddos to Where's Waldo. (Wally)
This was the most fun section (in green). Having it at the start w/ the 2 (in blue) mini-ramps from extension 6 was super fun. Also opened the track up a bit for those who shot later as folks split on the Ys or landed on or behind ramps, or off the track (very few rails). 10/10 would recommend it.
Got PitchCar back to the table tonight. We try to play it quarterly but life happens and there was a move in there. A fun track with some room for big hits along the straights if you're the risky type.
Well well well. I never thought I'd have a boardgame table mat, but here I am. Luxe. Super excited to play on it tomorrow! 36"x72".
Got my boardgame collection situated at the new house. Along with this dice shadowbox and a dice ceramic water pitcher I had made back in highschool.
Being a boardgamer, this is one of my favorite Strange Planet comics! This one always makes me pause and wonder if my favorite boardgames are just the one I'm best at, or do I just play a lot of my favorite games...Today's comic:
