This is a magnificent book. A non-fiction companion to Andrew O’Hagens ‘Caledonian Road’. London in the 21st Century has become the place Harold Shand dreamt of in ‘The Long Good Friday’; although the criminals abroad in London now make Harold Shand look benign.

I’ve been struggling with my reading this year. Haven’t been able to really get engaged by anything other than the new novel by James Lee Burke. However, this arrived this afternoon and I’m already 137 pages in. It is superb, as is ever novel in the Duffy series.

Being honest I only understand a fraction of his novels but I’ll be getting this on the day it is released. ‘Bleeding Edge’ is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read.
