KAMINSKY nails it <again> x.com/MarianKamens... président sale americaine, déteste le Canada
Going forward I prefer we call it “Canadian Football” the same way colour commentators Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon did on ITV
Oh good. I'm still plodding through towards the middle of the 3rd episode wondering why Scorcese made this. It's funny and all, but nowhere near as scary as Scorsese's 1991 film or the 1962 original. Maybe Bardem's MAX CADY needs a white Top Hat, to follow his creepy Panama, and Greek sailor caps.
Watching Robert Bresson’s « Les Dames du Bois de Boulogne » tonight… his second feature and the last film he shot with professional actors; despite the fact it's not generally considered one of his best, I'm nonetheless 📽️ enthralled again.
Henri Cartier-Bresson …one of the co-founders of Magnum — but other than (partially) sharing a common surname as far as I know they're not related.
Being pulpy & provocative seems to me to be what appealed to Chabrol in both stories. Isabelle Huppert, too… is once again beyond brilliant! As to Chabrol's more historical work even the very dry 'Eye of Vichy' seems extremely 'edgy' to me, without any of the directors script or narrative added. 🙂
I really loved « Violette Noziere » and its‘ parallels to Claude Chabrol's « Une Affaire De Femmes » both of which are based on true stories. There's a superb Bandes-Desinées by Camille Benyamina about Violette, and her stunning adaptation of Améle Nothomb‘s « Barbe Bleue » is worth a look, too.
«The reason the separatists have the power to launch an assault on Canadian federalism is due to Jason Kenney, who invited them into the tent and then curated their grievances for political power » Kenney posted the Hoekstra scoop to take the heat off himself. Shame on any fool defending JKenney

Qui est le patron du Jordan Bardella ? Alors en France, même aussi c'est un mystère !
Two random pages of more gorgeous #BandesDessinées #BD art from Camille Benyamina #Quebec in «VIOLETTE NOZIERE VILAINE CHERIE» by Camille Benyamina & Eddy Simon. The story is based on a true crime #personnage villain / hero — immortalized in 🎥 Claude Chabrol’s …/2
TIL Leos are supposed to get along well with Geminis because they share a high level of compatibility in friendship, romance, and work due to their mutual love for socializing, creativity, and excitement. The pairing is often described as a "house on fire" or a "match made in heaven"

Thanks Richard! Good news, long overdue but there are still hardly enough express train times… Greyhound services are still cancelled? This provincial government is completely abhorent. PS: #TorStar poll proves it's as anti-local as Postmedia. Clearly, results aren't indicative of Guelph voters.
That IS shocking that nobody is financing it yet. I'm pretty sure I read John Waters was going to make a movie of his novel quite awhile, ago. Meanwhile, it's well worth grabbiing the audiobook version which Waters performs himself
📽️ Isabelle(s) Huppert AND Adjani, Audrey Fleurot, Juliette Binoche, Monica Bellucci, and Charlotte Gainsbourg (& more!) in DOUX PER CENT 🎥 🎬 🍿 Vive La France! SUPER! 📺 TV for film lovers by any measure that helped me enormously learning more language & culture, too! see also: “Un Village Français”
#booksky 📘 @lorenafranco.bsky.social
I'm listening to Jonathan Keeble perform “Haunted Doll’s House” & loving it, but surprised having to look up English vocabulary (e.g. “taper” and “bier”) as often as I have when listening to "livres d'audio" or RFI Radio France, in my new found passion to improve my intermediate-at-best français! 🙂
