Philadelphia Federation of Teachers (PFT Local 3)
@pft
The PFT represents 14,000 educators working in the School District of Philadelphia. We're fighting for more public education funding & a better world for workers. Nothing about us, without us ✊🏽 PFT.org #PHLed
New Hire Orientation marks the unofficial start of the 2026-2027 #PhlEd school year! Team PFT addressed educators new to the District and signed up new members on the spot. We're incredibly proud to have the highest teachers' union density in the region! #PhlEd #UnionStrong ❤️💪🏽
It's that time of year 🥹 Don't forget to buy union-made school supplies! aflcio.org/SchoolSupplies #UnionStrong
Statement from @artsteinberg-pft.bsky.social on the reassignment of the principal at Frankford High School, whose alleged conduct was documented by @inquirer.com: www.inquirer.com/education/fr... #PhlEd #PFTstrong
Longer commutes for littles across busier streets: How does displacing students at Overbrook Elementary improve learning or safety? PFT member Kathryn is right: The District's decision to close a beloved school in a beautiful, historic building is shameful. #PhlEd #SaveOurSchools
Cheers to our members who make summer learning possible ❤️💪🏽 Congratulations to our students completing or graduating from summer school! #PhlEd
Now that the World Cup is over (¡Felicidades, España!), we know for certain that there is plenty of money to fund our communities - IF officials make it their priority. Hear it from Overbrook ES teacher and PFT member Debra Joell. Save Overbrook! #PhlEd #SaveOurSchools
These past few days of building solidarity and strengthening organizing skills at the @aft.org convention have us pumped for the new school year and must-win midterm elections ❤️💪🏽 We're ready to keep leading by example: There is power in belonging to a union! #UnionStrong #PFTproud
When PA Republicans held up the budget last year, school districts like ours were forced to borrow heavily - with interest - to keep the lights on. Tell Senate Rs to get back to work: Pass a budget that funds our schools and raises the minimum wage! tinyurl.com/PAbudget2026 #PAbudget
Congratulations @ibewinternational.bsky.social Local 614 ❤️💪🏾 All POWER to the WORKERS!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Come out and walk the line with @ibewinternational.bsky.social Local 614! One day longer, one day stronger ❤️💪🏾
"I have said that the Declaration of Independence is the ringbolt to the chain of your nation's destiny; so, indeed, I regard it.... Stand by those principles, be true to them on all occasions, in all places, against all foes, and at whatever cost." --Frederick Douglass
While Senate Republicans kick back for the holiday weekend, PFT members like Kate Sundeen refuse to let them off the hook for failing their one assignment: an on-time budget that funds public education. #PAbudget #FundOurSchools
#PAbudget is officially overdue. As school districts brace for another costly delay in funding, @artsteinberg-pft.bsky.social has a message for lawmakers leaving the Capitol for the July 4th weekend: Fulfill the promise of liberty for all. Fund public schools! #PhlEd #FundOurSchools
ICE needs to stay away from the World Cup and from our communities. We stand in solidarity to defend safe workplaces and the dignity of every worker. Learn more: NoICEinTheCup.us 🎨 by Philly artist @perijlaw on insta ❤️💪🏾
Pay up, PECO! All power to the workers of IBEW Local 614 ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
Rain or shine, solidarity feels fine! @artsteinberg-pft.bsky.social & staff joined @unitehere.org Local 274 on the picket line at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. SHAME on the Sheraton for forcing workers to go on strike during an epically busy tourism season. ALL POWER to the workers ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
Happy Father's Day to our members! To those who continuously show that fatherhood is also care work, we wish you a day filled with gratitude, respect, and love. #FathersDay
We're #PublicSchoolProud of student drumlines from West Philly High, Lincoln High, Dobbins High, & more who were surprise guest performers at last night's @philorch.bsky.social concert marking 50 years of music at Fairmount Park! BRAVI to these musicians & our PFT music directors! #PhlEd
A corrupt Supreme Court majority is no match for the people ✊🏾 We stand in solidarity with all fighting to secure and preserve liberties denied by MAGA governors, legislators, and judges. Freedom is NOT optional. We refuse to go back #Juneteenth
#PhlEd students deserve nothing less than for administration & elected leaders to position the District for growth - & to never settle for starvation. Thank you to Mayor Parker, Council President Johnson, & members of Council for working with us to avoid school staff cuts next year! #PFTstrong
Safe travels to Randolph CTE teacher & PFT member Shareesa Frink who made a 10-day medical mission to Panama possible for students! We know this will be a transformative experience for all. We wish you a rewarding and memorable time in Panama! #PhlEd #PublicSchoolProud
And that's a wrap on another school year! Thanks to our members, Philly public school students entered summer break with more knowledge, sharper skills, and bigger dreams. YOU make public education in Philly possible. Enjoy your time off with loved ones! 😎🏊🌴🍦 #PhlEd
So much #PFTpride for our final #RedFriday of the school year! Thanks to our members at Comegys School & the Gilbert Spruance Special Education team, students will enter summer break with new skills and refined talents. We're forever grateful for the work you do for kids and communities! #PhlEd
What a way to end the school year!! Thank you to Mayor Parker & Council President Johnson for finding a solution that allows the District to reverse all 340 school staff cuts made for next academic year. Our students deserve the world ❤️💪🏽 Read more: pft.org/press/pft-st... #PhlEd #PHLbudget
It's here: the last day of the 2025-2026 school year for students! Have a happy and healthy summer break 😎🌞🏖
Happy 85th anniversary, PFT! Our charter was signed on June 10, 1941. PFT founders went on to win a collective bargaining campaign with support from civil rights elders including Martin Luther King, Jr. Solidarity then, solidarity still, SOLIDARITY FOREVER! #PFTstrong #PhlEd
While it wasn't the solution we wanted, Council ultimately approved the additional funding needed to reverse 340 school staff cuts for the '26-'27 academic year. The District must reverse the cuts immediately so that educators looking for jobs elsewhere stay here in Philly, where they are needed.
