Pittsburgh Scanner
@pgh-scanner
Two guys with a couple radios. Always listening to Pittsburgh Police/Fire/EMS.
Away for the day. If anything dumb happens, DM the account and I can get to it later with a channel and time. In related news a restaurant in Sherman, NY will have a Pgh Scanner sticker by tomorrow. Pine Junction. Pretty good.
Day two of the smoke event has kept EMS and the Fire Department busy with numerous calls for overexertion and smoke related respiratory issues. Forecasts suggest conditions should improve somewhat once the expected rain arrives tomorrow night. There is a city out there somewhere.
I run a couple air quality sensors on the PurpleAir Network. map.purpleair.com/air-quality-... - it's fascinating how hard we got hit.
It's going to be really hot for the area in the next few days. Be sure to keep hydrated and not bake your kids or pets in locked vehicles. I will be posting about them.
An announcement just went out on all the channels that NWS Pittsburgh issued a severe thunderstorm warning for NW Allegheny County until 3:15pm.
Looks like the rain is over for today. Probably going to go out to dinner tonight.
Attached is a NWS breakdown and a report from NE Ohio Scanner. We only saw it. They felt it.
The reports keep coming in on downed power lines and trees into buildings. The Real Time Crime Center also has lost internet connection to the city cameras.
Most of Oakland. Radio traffic and me sitting in the dark, indicates that there is a large power outage in the area.
Downtown. A caller said that they needed assistance from PD at the eye ball park. The bike cops translated that to Katz Plaza.

It sounds like some of the usual trouble spots are starting to approach flood stage with this narrow band of rain. If you are traveling later today next to a creek, expect it to be the 4th river.
