27, she/her, do art but not a lot or very quickly. Mostly a personal account by now. Bad taste in games (Currently: Marvel Rivals), worse taste in movies, great taste in music. 💙@lavnlvas.bsky.social💙
I saw there was a pop-up shop for Equilibrium in San Diego for this weekend only, and drove 5 hours to finally get ahold of this mask I've been trying to get for years. I am so happy to finally have it
Also, helmets. The one up-top is the "base" helmet, it has no optics of its own and needs one of these alternate attachments to see.
Redrew Black Star, decided to compare to the first drawing of her. It's crazy how much her look has been refined.
Also as a quick display of my irresponsibility with money; here's Samus with 3 of my other tallest figures
The LED in the chest pipes light through the visor, which reveals sculpted face detail in transparent plastic, which is a SUPER cool detail.
The joints being mostly alloy make her a pleasure to handle, one would think the lack of ratchet joints is an issue but I appreciate knowing there's no dinky plastic ratchet that will inevitably fail.
A size comparison with the Figma Metroid Prime 3 Samus. One thing that the photo can't convey is that Prime 4 Samus's alloy parts make her substantially heavy than the Figma Samus.
So I got this figure the other day, and setting aside my gripes with the Prime 4 Varia Suit, what a GORGEOUS figure! (It better be for $300 :'3)
Very briefly exiting my depression pit to to share this insane thing I just made; I found out the pilebunker that comes with the 30MM Nightfall AC is roughly the same size as my Figma Samus's arm cannon, so I made an adapter to attach them.
I did finish this little freak btw. Before and after shots. I ended up hand-painting the rest.
The Phazon Suit pic wasn't quite where I wanted so I just added more shit to it
Drawpile Samus sketchpaintings. The Phazon Suit one was partially inspired by @laur-rants.bsky.social's painting work.
Salt in the wound, now I have a soapy load of laundry to finish washing by hand so I can have clean clothes for work tomorrow. Awesome. And this is just undergarments, I'm gonna have to wash the rest of my clothes fully by hand too, since I can't drive to the nearest laundromat on my own.
Growing up turned me into the kinda girl I was always too scared to talk to as a boy.
(Cyber Polaris) BoneZone Drawpile thing, trying to experiment with backgrounds again.
Going through weird mental stuff we don't want to talk about. So have these Cyber Polaris sketches we've been doing for fun.
2 toys I've managed to successfully fix! I'm gettin pretty good at this ;3 Yapping in alt text!
We just spent the last 2 days with our boyfriend, and he decided to take this picture of us pointing at a huge beetle we found at the Getty Center
Metroid has roots in Alien, but I don't agree with the majority that Metroid MUST be more or less an adaptation of it; Metroid has even STRONGER roots in 80's sci-fi anime such as Lensman. Prime 4's coolest trick is deciding to build itself around *that* fantasy, of being a badass space superhero.
What I see in Prime 4 is an attempt to merge the disparate halves of Metroid, the moody atmosphere and the campy sci-fi. Samus is often framed in more explicitly super-heroic imagery, and she works with a cast of thinly written but still charming side characters, much like the various Metroid manga.
