Retired Illinois public ed guy and proud dad/husband. I love critical thinking based on objective truth. And there’s the Michigan football thing.
Had the first ultra fresh corn of the year this week. If you’re in the corn belt, you know: 1) a place to get corn that was picked within 24 hours of eating and 2) fresh corn belt corn is just better, same as fresh Georgia peaches or fresh Gulf citrus.
About 15% of our average yearly precipitation in 2 hours. In addition to the mess in my basement, a reminder that climate change’s most widespread impact is more extreme weather—yes even extreme cold weather because of more polar vortices. I’m betting a lot of you have stories of recent weird shit.
When you hear Donald brag about the stock market, please refer to this chart compliments of Paul Krugman. Even with your 401k etc the overwhelming benefit of a rising market goes to rich folks who are taxed at a lower rate than your payroll taxes.
Early June evenings in the Lower Great Lakes rock. 68 degrees, low humidity, robins and cardinals singing it out. Love it.
So Border Patrol has a helicopter operating in DuPage County IL. This is 5 hours by car from the nearest border (Windsor, ON home to polite people who like Molson’s and Tim Horton’s). Your tax dollars at work.
HAHAHAHA! Better. Sure. His “class” is slapping gold leaf on everything and proclaiming it awesome.
Sigh. They voted for this idiot in spite of THIS which makes them, well, idiots for now saying “oh, this isn’t what I voted for.
This you, Todd? Have plenty of cyanide on hand for the wife and kids, pal.
Not my favorite genre but I’ll watch it because I hear nothing but “AWESOME” about it and there’s some great Chicago blues at the end which hell yeah. Buddy Guy is king.
I’m lucky enough to live within a few miles of a body of water 90 miles wide and 300 miles long and it has 4 siblings. When I first swam in the ocean when I was 10 and it burned my eyes, I was shocked and amazed. Great Lakes for me.
Very cool. Here in the flatlands of suburban Chicago, it's raptorfest on the regular. Here's someone looking for dinner and then there WAS dinner...
That’s cool. I’ve been to a couple shows but never had the nerve to introduce myself.
Worst of the worst was always a lie or an excuse people used to paper over their own stupidity. I mean…how do you interpret this shit beyond the three words?
I don't think we're neighbors. Here's us. Crocus still at least a month out.
This is a sun dog. It happens when it’s very cold and windy as it was in Chicagoland today. Kind of like a winter rainbow.
And this surprises how exactly Mr. Rogan? Remember where you were a year ago?
