Watched the #FF14 #FanFest cosplay walk on earlier and now I am thinking about doing a cosplay of my WoL just so I can go on the stge and do my usual dungeon routine of /stretch then PLD tank stance. 😅 Recommend giving it a watch, especially if you're into #cosplay - there was some GORGEOUS stuff.

Update 2 - 2 months in. The new home of the dwarves takes shape. #DwarfFortress

1st Felsite 275

Doc Hausen awoke with a grumble, rolling his shoulders as he tried to work the aches of sleeping on the pile of stones out of his body. It had been nearly two months since they had arrived and struck the earth and while the first few weeks had been miserable for Doc Hausen, learning how to work a pick and dig out space for his wards to live, he was feeling extremely satisfied with his progress.

The first layer down has been more of the white sand that covered the surface, followed by sandy loam. Two large rooms had been dug out, one to house their possessions and the next to keep the animals that had survived this far with them. The aquifer followed, four layers of conglomerate stone that slowly seeped water. Luckily there had been trees enough on the surface to build wooden walls to block off the staircases from the water, though Doc Hausen knew that they were a temporary fix before they could source a decent amount of stone.

They hadn't needed to wait long to find stone, as directly under the aquifer they had broken into expansive caverns, deep underground. The walls were rich with ore - hematite, magnetite and native platinum, the ground was teeming with edible fungus that would satisfy their grazing animals as well as tower-cap fungus trees that would satisfy their need for wood. The cavern smelled damp and earthy and it was definitely a smell that Doc Hausen had sorely missed.

On the surface they had had little trouble, for now. Doc Hausen had ordered a protective wall be raised out of the highwood blocks that Dan'gaz had cut from the lumber of two large trees that dominated the skyline nearby. While they would do nothing for serious attacks, they would at least obscure his wards - shielding them from the kobolds nearby as well as the elk-birds that still crashed about, seemingly desperate to reclaim their sandy nests.

As well as the elk-birds, the construction of the walls had briefly been interrupted by the swooping of an eagle and a giant preying mantis, though neither had stuck around long enough to cause any actual trouble. Doc Hausen was fairly confident that he never wanted to see a preying mantis the size of a cow again, though.

Doc Hausen had lost track of how long he had been on the road now. His group was all that was left of the refugees from Bellpartner, conquered by dark goblins some years ago now. Those that could flee had done so to the nearby fortresses of other dwarven kingdoms, but the goblins of the Ardent Plague had hunted them down as if determined to extinguish all the dwarves of Bellpartner from the world.

Doc Hausen had led his dwarves arounds the Walls of Creeping mountains, avoiding dungeons, dark goblin pits and caves of indeterminate occupancy and were now cutting across the Hill of Creeds, as the grassland hills gave way to sandy badlands. This was dangerous terrain, and they had shooed off more than a few carnivorous hunters looking to make the dwarves a meal. Everything Doc Hausen and his wards had left was on the nether-cap cart that had carried them this far, pulled by the horses Amber and Cheesecloth. v

The call to look out came too late, really. Zandar had been leading the horses around the north side of the brook they had found, when Sparklepants, the groups militia commander shouted from behind the group to lookout for the elk bird. Elk birds, should have been the shout, six of the disturbing creatures, nesting in the sand that the horses were about to disturb... had disturbed? Doc Hausen found it difficult to recall which came first, the shout or the whinny of the horses as they reared up away from the creatures. Large bipedal flightless beasts with the head of a bird and antlers of a great elk screeched in terror at the sight of the horses, scattering away, and driving the whole group to chaos.

In the panic, the wheel of the cart hit the edge of the brook, half tumbling into the water as the elk-birds scattered and even over the noise of their terrified squarks Doc Hausen heard a sound he'd dreaded since leaving Bellpartner: the screaming of strained wood, and the crack of an axle splintering.

The cart would carry them no further.

Vaulting atop the cart, Doc Hausen hurriedly looked around, surveying the area. Assessing the landscape, calculating risks... in the distance he spied small, squat bipedal creatures with large floppy ears, elsewhere a pack of wild boar. A praying mantis, the size of a horse buzzed above the boar, no doubt hunting for prey.

"Grab the picks." He ordered quickly, snatching one from the cart.
"Doc?" Dave's query came, watching as their leader spun the tool by the haft.

"We aren't goin' anywhere with the wheel busted. We need a place to hole up and plan our next move. Or maybe this is where the Gods meant us to be, and where they mean to see our lives begin anew." Doc Hausen said, resolute. 'Mustn't let the young 'uns know you're making it up as you go.' he told himself.

"Strike the earth, Dwarves. For this is where we forge our new home. Limulkodor!"

I think I finished my Helsmiths of Hashut. There's more I could do on them but I'm kinda sick of looking at them. They're okay, but did work/end up like I was thought they would. More pics tomorrow when I'm on my computer and can alt text easier.

A Helsmiths of Hashut doom engine or something. It's a big humanoid robot bull with large guns for arms and sculpted to look like it has an internal engine with fire on its chest and out the top of its head. However this one has been painted to look like it's from a frozen wasteland with lots of ice mate from UV resin and snow and blue paint to make it look very cold. There are icicles hanging from just under the holes of the cannon arms. The flames are painted a turquoise colour.

Kingsley SHACKLEBOLT is black, tall, bald, with a deep voice, and has a single gold hoop earring. He is wise and gentle.
(References: Slavery; black men are tall and physically hyper-masculine; the "magical negro"/"numinous negro" trope of wise, purely magnanimous black men; stereotypical black-dude fashion.)

Dean Thomas is black. He is described as being taller than Ron. Dean's father left him when he was young. His best friend is Seamus, an Irish kid.

"Gender Critical" is the only belief system, related to trans people. Gender identity, gender expression and anatomical sex are all grounded in sciences - social science, social science and biology respectively. Another way to differentiate is that being a TERF is a choice. Being trans isn't.

Nearly 590,000 pixels, and several MONTHS, later I've finally finished this #ChronoTrigger pixel piece on Wplace.live. I'm really happy with how it's turned out and I'm not at all obsessing about the 27 pixels that are apparently the wrong colour somewhere in there.

"Trans ideology" is used in the EXACT SAME WAY as "gay ideology/agenda" was used - as a way to demononise and pathologise gay people. To claim that they were a danger to, and grooming/indoctrinating children. Here's an excellent post from the /r/AskSocialScience subreddit FIVE YEARS AGO.

No there is not such a thing as LGBT Ideology. There is no structured set of beliefs associated with being queer or transgender. This doesn't meet the threshold for an ideology, since the only ideas you can count an LGBT person to have is that they exist and shouldn't be discriminated against. This logic can be placed on many different groups. We wouldn't call MLK or BLM black ideologues for example. For another, many people who support gender equality do not call themselves feminists. This may be because of stigma but it could also be due to the recognition that feminism is an academic movement.

The actual belief in LGBT Equality usually stems from utilitarianism and egalitarianism which are ideologies in their own right. The maximum amount of happiness for the maximum number of people, and the principle of equality respectively. This can be applied to any group of people in the world: women, men, ethnic or religious minorities, LGBT people, disabled people.

Gender ideology (as it's usually called) has been described as a moral panic and a conspiracy theory. Before the 2010s there were very few people who used the term. It was mostly confined to academic usage as a shorthand for all ideologies relating to gender. Hence a singular gender ideology did not exist.

It has recently moved on in western countries to indicate opposition to trans people specifically. The reason for this is that conservatives have allied themselves with some anti trans feminists in opposing transgender rights. Pearce et al note a brief history of the term in TERF Wars, a piece explaining the beliefs of anti transgender feminists. They use the work of journalist Mallory Moore who documented the first collaborations of anti trans feminists and religious conservatives using the term in 2016.

Queer Theory is an academic movement concerning LGBT people but doesn't purport any ideas of its own. It's a small part of postmodernist approaches which emphasise deconstructing ideologies. In essence Queer theory exists to challenge popular ideas about gender and sexuality, not to bring forward a particular point of view.

To conclude, there are many ideologies about gender but there is no single ideological movement concerning LGBT people. LGBT people ally together because they face common obstacles that need to be overcome rather than any overarching beliefs. Its helpful to think of Gender Ideology like the terms Cultural Marxism or Identity Politics. They don't really mean anything and just exist to mobilise people against the left wing.

So you'd be insisting that all of these men going into women's bathrooms then? Because they're all trans men. Which means they were AFAB. But because of your "GAMETES IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!" logic, it means you're insisting they use women's facilities.

Not by your binary "tHe GaMeTeS1!!1" definition of male or female. Because there are intersex people who prove that definition wrong. (Also, from a longstanding, intersex advocacy group: interactadvocates.org/faq/ )

Is intersex the same thing as “Disorder of Sex Development?”
“Disorder” or “difference of sex development” (DSD) is still a common medical term for intersex traits. Many intersex people reject the term “DSD” because it supports the idea that their bodies are wrong, or up to doctors to “fix.” Advocates in the United States often bring up the fact that until 1973, being gay was considered a mental disorder. Many natural human differences have been framed as medical problems, until communities fought for acceptance.
