Seen this so many times recently. Rain just seems to go round us. Great banks of rain coming from Wales split in two: north part heads to Manchester, south bit to Brum. Every time. But they misjudged it tonight and we got a bit!

A lovely afternoon at the beach today, ending up showing the #eclipse on a handy car park sign. People were sharing eclipse glasses and quite a few came across to chat about the projection. Now for some meteors...

Some trees are just attention seekers.

A tree in a dense wood. The trunk is divided in two and the larger part (on the left) has a big cavity with a small one above it. Together they look like a wide open mouth and an eye. To either side are two large multifoliate leaves that look like jazz hands. The effect is quite striking and looks almost like a sculpture.

For those who are suffering from brown dusty views and smoke from wildfires, here's a couple of photos from my walk to town yesterday. Not to make you jealous, just a reminder of what green looks like.

A view from a bridge over a stream. The stream is in the foreground, with a brown gravel bed, seen through the branches of an overhanging willow tree. The stream is lined with tall wild flowers. In the distance is a glimpse of a green meadow with more trees and bushes. The predominant colour is a lush green.

A view along the stream (in the opposite direction to the other picture) towards its confluence with a large river. The banks are rich shades of green plants with a few pink flowers, and sunlight is shimmering off the surface of the water.

Took this after commenting on the visibility today, not realising that I took almost exactly the same shot yesterday, when I didn't notice the horizon... Anyone recognise where we've been for the bank holiday?

A coastal view across miles of grass and sand. A distant headland on the horizon has some tall structures...
The sky is lightly overcast but the visibility is good.

A clear, colourless balloon floating in a dim bar room. We are looking up at it and the ceiling is pale. Reflected on the balloon's surface are many small bright spots of light and two images of a portrait of a woman on a nearby wall. One of the images is inverted.
