Far from the madding crowds... Politics, society, culture and stuff. Views from the shores of the Baltic
Sat on a lovely quiet peaceful beach in the middle of nowhere* and some dick turns up on a jetski and proceeds to whiz aimlessly to and fro. 🙄 ..before finally disappearing again... *In the Sörmland archipelago.
Swedish word of the day... fässing. In English, a 'market wallet'. It's a traditional way to carry stuff slung over your shoulder. I mislaid my last one so this is the replacement. Perfect for walking home from the supermarket, 'hands free'.

This podcast on transatlantic cables reminded me of another engineering milestone, Brunel's steamship "SS Great Eastern". Built in 1858, the world's biggest liner of its day carrying 4000 passengers - and later the ship used to lay the first successful telegraph cables across the Atlantic in 1866.
I didn't say they were the highest prices in the EU 🙂 I'm just saying that the grid costs include transfers both in and out. (But presumably not if you e.g. charge a battery locally).
Wisdom from the lav 😊 "The workers create all the wealth. All wealth to the workers!"
I'm always struck by the similarity of these drones to the Avro Vulcan - the mainstay of Britain's cold war bomber squadrons.
Is the seriousness of climate change exaggerated in reporting? Americans have a record gap between those who think reporting is underestimated vs exaggerated of 12% (44-32). Thats a huge swing of 16% from last year.
Old Moore's Almanack of 1862. "It will be well if some of the unjust pretensions of foreign powers which lead to 'difficulties' should turn out to be 'impossibilities' for in such a state an unquiet Power may be required to abandon untenable claims"
Mine looks better.... and is fossil free (unless you count me 😉) .. Seriously, why do rich people have such bad taste?
Dressing appropriately for parliament? Let's hear it for lacy frills, embroidery and wigs....
That would be Tony Blair, executive board member of the Board of Peace? 🤔
