Political Psych, Racial and Ethnic Politics, Danceable music, Football (association and rugby union). Transnational human. @Bowdoin Gov department. (I actually really like how that blue looks on a black theme)
Let nobody tell them they are "Catholic" and support the anti-immigrant actions by the current administration. There is no equivocation, this is all clear. The Pope and the USA Bishops have said it. Call out anybody who says otherwise. EVERY SINGLE FKN TIME!
Father's Day in the Northern Highlands with Sara. ¿Qué más puede pedir un papá?
Yes, if you are confused by what the VAR did, they just made up a law, they changed the decision, and changed the restart, they can't do that. US and FIFA doing their gross shit already
We love our resale (scalper) markets don't we? Guadalajara is a soccer crazed metropolis, with 4 million people and 4 historic teams. To see a stadium this empty is gross. Mexicans cannot afford the insane prices, driven up mostly by scalpers. FIFA could care less, more $$ is always better.
Two crowded primaries for Maine Governor. What is most interesting for me are the vote totals. Votes in the Democratic Primary almost doubled those in the Republican Primary. Similar patterns to TX, lots of enthusiasm from the left. Note: Maine has semi-open primaries: www.lwvme.org/semiOpen
The problem with the Democratic Party is that they are caught between the allure of having the higher moral ground, and the idea of winning because winning matters most, always. I remember not too long ago when the dems committed to a failing candidate, who dropped out 107 days before the election.
Sometimes students and their families are beyond gracious. Dominican mondongo is something I'd never thought I'd try, but my student's family brought it up from NYC, frozen, packed so it would last. And yes, it was amazing. ¡Gracias! 🙏 And... according to my family, mondongo is not for everyone. 🤷
Somehow, this year's graduation left me more emotional than before. Good luck good kids, go improve the world.
MPSA thoughts (and a picture) As political scientists, we know a lot about the world and the struggle for power. While we all have our own ethos and motivators, I believe we are still called to improve ourselves and those around us. We still are a community of human beings with shared goals.
Not sure why the mainstream new media is not all over this. The NCAA has known of CTE and the grave dangers of American Football since at least the 1950s. They continue to deny the clear evidence, but Americans can see the truth. natlawreview.com/press-releas...
Happy to be part of the world that sees value in the real encounter. In the value of original and challenging thought. In the idea that humanity matters as a collective of virtue-prone individuals who flourish through contact, of people, culture, ideas, and bodies.
Why is this so hard to change? The repercussions are significant.
The fucking stupidest person possible with the nuke codes. How the FK will Hell REIGN down? "Glory be to God?" WTF? I hope he's around and listens.
Impossible to compete against resale scalper bots that FIFA and the USA love, making FIFA a 15% profit off of every subsequent transaction. Feeling pretty disappointed about this World Cup. Had high hopes :(
Dear author, Here are the reviews for your submitted manuscript. Authors:
Maybe those opining on races like Maine's Senate race will update their priors. www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/pdf/10.1...
The second part of the paper explores how racial linked fate operates for Latinos, taking the difference between WHITE and LATINE linked fate. YES!, this is allowing for people to state low/high levels of linked fate with ALL major racial groups in the USA. Because ..
at showing how YES, Latines continue to exist in the in-between whiteness and black-America. And the results are quite clean. Here are two examples that show explicitly how each self-identified group places on several variables of interest.
The academic side of other site is mostly reduced to people posting about AI and LLMs and other pseudo trendy junk. But also some people with massive take downs on total duds who somehow are employed by institutions of higher education.
Imagine any other country murdering scientists and attacking a library.
My little girl (going to college next year), just told me about the new Gorillaz album. It's great, feels grown up, but semi-serious, melodious and playful, but almost introspective. And full of Indian music influences. Worth the listen. With a good music system.
