I am not impressed. Okay, I did expect a de facto “Who?” so maybe a smidge. The Alt text includes some commentary, oh hell, ridicule along with articulating the results shown by the screen grab. Did I follow up and provide information so their database was more complete. No, no, and gawd no!

Results from a self-search of the isthisbandai database. There’s the cover to the first album, subsequently remastered. The band name, the assessment “Probably Human,” their assessment (methodology unknown) of a 15% AI probability. A couple of buttons to agree or disagree that the result is accurate, which begs the question, how can a probability % be accurate as it is a sample. There are a couple of more buttons to present two follow-ups: to report a band is AI or to say the result is wrong. (I haven’t run the numbers but a 2017 release would seem to have a low AI factor, since it was years before music was shackled to the concept.) The salient parts of the report remaining show: Total Releases: 1, should be well over 100; Years Active: Unknown, should be at least 9, could be more because I used the band name on YouTube videos before 2017; Releases/Month(Estimate): 0, should be N/A since they are dividing by 0, but the real number is 1.something. What could not be captured in the screen grab is their assertion of 0 social media links. Ha and double Ha. We’re soaking in it.

Still no album in mind, but I did think of a possible title, “Ruts and Rituals.” Working on a song called “Popcorn”. 16 bar melody written. Sketched a chord progression in iReal (Tenor sax part shown) and recorded piano comp, lead, and 48 bar piano & sax solos. Sax, not good. Back at it Friday.

In the past 24 hours, I selected the B-side, finished the tracings, colored the art, laid out the cover, and rethought and revised some of yesterday's choices. Well, it may not achieve mediocrity, but it is done.

More from the Spirograph simulator program I wrote.

Six super-imposed images generated with a program I wrote to simulate a 1960s toy. The toy worked by having a gear travel around a larger circular ring. The gear has holes where a pen inserted. Because the inner gear rotates faster than it travels around the ring, what would ordinarily be a circle becomes a beautiful path with maxima that evenly divide the circle of the ring.

Let's see, let's see. What did I do today. Wrote a program to simulate a Spirograph. 720 teeth, 1000.0 radius for the fixed ring. This is the result for an inner gear with 375 teeth and 789.0 radius. Draw point is 700.0 from the inner gear's center.

18,000 lines which read as curves that swoop toward the center and out again. This drawing is an approximation of the output of the 1960s toy "Spirograph" which used a gear traveling around a toothed ring to create amazing patterns. These were generated by the revolution of a pen point around a center of a gear that was also revolving around another center. When the pen point would return to its start position was based on the least common multiple of the tooth count for the inner gear and outer ring.

So there I was, a few days after the US Presidential election, free associating on the guitar and playing maybe a song or two like my “Thunder in the Valley” and I looked down. My pick was showing evidence of my anger.

The author hugs an acoustic guitar and presents his guitar pick, with tip snapped off from the ferocity of his playing. It was shortly after the US election and the plectrum bore the full power of the author’s anger at the result.
