Are you at Gencon today? You can find physical copies of my games CRUCIBLE and GRAVITY at the IPR stand, which is booth 449, which is... presumably somewhere in the giant capitalism space.

Just prepping Cthulhu Cash Grab for print so I can have copies to sell at NGC next month and I'm reminded that it's actually pretty good.

Reminded of 'Shed Skin Defence', an ability I wrote into my fatally-flawed game Guardian Mecha Generations (a.k.a. Pendragon in Space). The game may be long buried, but I maintain that this is Good:

Shed Skin Defence
5// Choose one:
• Make a tiny adjustment to your outfit that re-establishes you as a style icon.
• Whip off your outfit to reveal a second, equally stylish outfit beneath.
• Whip off your outfit to reveal that you look phenomenal in your underwear.
You immediately regain all of your hit points, and your attacks for the rest of the scene do +1 damage.
This ability works at the personal or mech scale, although you’ll need to work out what ‘whip off your outfit’ looks like on your mech.
This ability can be used as an instant reaction if you are reduced to 0 or fewer hit points.

Every so often, I'm playing a video game and one of the options presented to me is so unexpectedly fantastic that I can't not do it. This evening, in Heart of the Machine, I was offered the project 'Weaponise Bees'.

Consumable: Weaponised Bees -- It's just a container of bees, really. They were plenty weaponised when you found them.

There are a lot of good illustrations but this is one of my favourites.

A stick figure in a poorly drawn wolf mask leaning on a railing and holding a martini glass, saying "Awoo, gents." Behind them is a circle which is meant to be the Moon. This one was drawn by me.

The same basic composition except the stick figure is now a femme fatale in a red dress, the Moon is recognisably the Moon, and there are other details on the card which match the Patricia Smith illustration for the Moon Tarot card such as a lobster on a plate to the left of the image.

Love to be advertised an AI assistant on the page where I'm reading about how AI generates dependency.

Here's one with some actual research: link.springer.com/article/10.1... A study of Chinese students who use AI and finds that academic ability is less relevant to dependency than the amount of stress they're under, which is interesting.

The participants in this study reported diverse issues, among which a decrease in personal ability (e.g., creativity, critical thinking, and independent thinking) and an increase in laziness and plagiarism rates deserve further attention.
