Idahoan 🥔 living in Finland 🇫🇮, working at Hamina Wireless. CWNE #233. I'm into old computers, retro videogames, 3D printing, and fixing stuff.
While playing an NTSC backup of Halo on my PAL Xbox, I encountered this unmanned Banshee in the canyon before you link up with Sgt. Johnson. This was after seeing the two usual banshees at the beginning of the map. Very strange.
I’m an American, living in Finland. Here is what the Finns do: Single-hose unit, window open. No wonder Europeans hate AC! They’re doing it wrong! I was able to find *one* two-hose unit for sale in the country, and it is double the price of the single-hose units. Plus, no ceiling fans.
#Pebble app update! I've released World Clock 1.1, which adds: 🪨 Pebble Time 2 support ☀️ Day/night icons 🕒 Improved layout and animations for Pebble Time Round RePebble App Store: apps.repebble.com/world-clock_... Rebble App Store: apps.rebble.io/en_US/applic...
I'm having all kinds of fun with UI and pixel art on #Pebble, but figuring out a round UI is proving to be a challenge.
This week I was at a networking event in Oslo. A Wi-Fi engineer at my table, having no idea about the history of Pebble past 2016, pointed at my watch and said, “Hang on. Is that a… Pebble? Why does it look so new?” The PT2 design clearly has classic #Pebble DNA! Nice work, @ericmigi.com!
Thinking about UI adjustments for low-resolution Pebbles (144x168) and #Pebble Time 2 (200x228). It’s tempting to just bump fonts by a few sizes (pictured), but I’m leaning towards bumping fonts by only one size, and increasing data density a bit. PT2 sure is a joy to wear. Nice work @ericmigi.com!
From the archives: A prototype WLAN Pi NEO2 leave-behind sensor in 2020. It had two Wi-Fi adapters and a PoE splitter. I meant to intro it at WLPC, but forgot to pull it out from under the podium at the end of my talk. It got pretty hot, and took a long time to print, so I never released it.
From the archives: 3D printing back in 2013 with Printrbots. We didn't have fancy stuff like auto leveling. We had wood! 3D printers made of actual wood! And we had to walk uphill in the snow, too! Both ways!
5/ Sean Calvert Crystal. Seems like his Facebook page is the hub: www.facebook.com/ElectSeanCry... Cannabis and Personal Liberty are listed twice! Dang! He links to a Google Doc, expanding on his platform. I searched for some hot terms like Trump, LGBT, and Abortion... zero results. Kinda nice!
2/ Ethan Giles. He doesn't seem to have his own page, and I can't get to idgop.org/candidate/et... (the first result on Google) because I'm in Finland and my VPN is broken. So, I humbly submit this photo of him from Ballotpedia. ballotpedia.org/Ethan_Giles Not much on Google after those two links.
1/ First on the Republican ticket, Daniel C. Fowler. This screenshot of his Twitter/X is... illuminating. Remember, we're not doing deep research, here. We're just Googling 'em real quick. Dan's website: www.dancf.info
From the archives: the gauge cluster on my SV650S. That was (and still is) one of my dream bikes.
This weekend, I worked on my Helsinki Regional Transit Departures app for #Pebble. Coming soon: 🚋 Toggles between route number and destination with a short timer! 🚌 No longer constrained to just Helsinki; will support all of 🇫🇮 Finland and 🇪🇪 Estonia, since they use the same API!
LLM be like, "Yo dawg. I heard you like functions and methods, so I put a method inside a function so you can call the method with a function."
Today's Pebble dev project: supporting all of the #Pebble screen sizes and shapes. Pebble Time 2 still needs some work but the groundwork is there.
My wife (@thelinengirl.bsky.social) knocked Christmas out of the park (again), this time with a custom-made Macintosh 128k LEGO kit designed by Chris McVeigh (chrismcveigh.com)! The logic board, analog board, floppy drive, flyback transformer… it’s all there! The accuracy and detail is insane.
Even Duolingo has iconography on Pebble now! Excellent! @ericmigi.com is this coming from Pebble-Dev? Planning to add more? These icons are one of my favorite things about Pebble.
Working on a jig to cut the glue on Pebble Classic for battery replacements. Here’s the very first prototype, but dental floss breaks immediately. Fishing line, maybe?
I've added a few small things to the Interactive Spectrum Chart: 📍 Ultra-wideband with filterable 500 and 1000 MHz channels ☎️ DECT channels with geographical filtering 🖱️ A "grab" cursor when dragging the map 📡 Spectrum up to 11 GHz 💾 Access it here: spectrum.potatofi.com
No luck getting into this glued Pebble Classic to replace the battery. On my 3D print bed, under a bag of rice, I can get it to 112°C, but that’s still not quite enough to loosen the adhesive. The screen does turn pitch black at that temperature, which is interesting. #Pebble
State of the home network: 🔥 Firewall: Meraki MX75 🥧 DNS: Pi Hole, RPI 3+ and PoE HAT 🎮 Switch: Ubiquiti Switch Lite 8 PoE 🛜 APs: Meraki MR36H x3 🛜 APs: Juniper Mist AP12 x3 I'm switching between Meraki and Juniper Mist APs with a couple of API calls, depending on which I want to use.
If you have a MetaGeek Wi-Spy DBx or Ekahau Spectrum Analyzer Model III in a drawer, don't toss it yet. I don't have anything built right now, but I have some ideas for how to re-use them.
