Sometimes, albeit very very rarely, you are able to impress your children.

A series of SMS messages involving my daughter, my wife, and me.

The first is a screenshot of a video from my daughter showing Venetian blinds at an angle. We all know what is going on here.

A very warm welcome to Kuranga native plants nursery and cafe, open as of today in #Warrandyte on the site of the old Beasley’s nursery. Great have this excellent business and lovely people here.

Ever get that feeling you are being watched…?

A rainbow lorikeet sitting in the banksia outside my study window. Deep blue head and belly, orange chest with yellow at the border, bright green wings and tail, orange beak used to express its ample attitude and effrontery if you interrupt breakfast. Breakfast today comprises yummy Banksia Spinoza “Birthday Candles” (aka “bird corn according to my grandchildren), with cylindrical flowers of yellow-gold spikes / tubular florets tipped with red. It’s a cold and sunny winter day in Australia and I know what I would rather be doing.

Before you get excited, web site hacker trying to harvest a signature I had to provide using my mouse in this Year of our Lord 2026 where we actually have secure technology designed and fit for the purpose of electronic signatures: this does not resemble my real signature at all.

Illegible scrawl that some idiot forced me to provide on a web site as a "signature" and that looks completely different from the illegible scrawl I actually use as a signature if I have a proper writing device. I usually just do an "ID" or an "X" on such online forms these days because come on.

Convenient, but I doubt I’ll need that many.

Caught in the act.

Eddie the miniature schnauzer, standing on the carpet, gazing intently at my foot still on the tiles. Tail caught mid-wag, ears alert. All is quiet until foot hits carpet, then this smiling wagging furry assassin wreaks his full mischief on said appendage, requiring wrestling and tummy rubs before I am allowed to pass.

This button on Acrobat apparently means "Share a link to this file." It took me a while to work out that the bit under the chain links represents a cloud, and not a judgemental assessment of the quality of my work.

Be careful what you wish for.

Follow up post showing the bag is opened and an insipid horror vaguely resembling a Twistie in shape that instead is an anemic, washed out, pink-tinged abomination that is unworthy of the name.

And I can confidently report that my original tweet was correct: these are just as horrible as you might have expected.

The Twistie is a noble treat that never deserved such disrespect. They should have called them TwistX.
