I enjoyed attending the 76th Annual Fairfax County 4-H Fair! Thank you to the volunteers, exhibitors, organizers, and community partners who make this longtime tradition possible each year. The fair is a wonderful celebration of agriculture, education, and community.

It was a pleasure to attend the special edition of Providence Perspectives celebrating the premiere of a documentary on Tysons’ remarkable 150-year transformation. Thank you to Supervisor Dalia Palchik for hosting this event and to everyone who helped bring this project to life.

It was an honor to attend last night's Pride Month Celebration hosted by Governor Abigail Spanberger and First Gentleman Adam Spanberger at the Governor's Executive Mansion. Grateful to be there celebrating Virginia's diverse LGBTQIA+ community with so many champions of equality and inclusion!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Kingsley Commons Community Picnic. It was wonderful seeing neighbors come together, enjoy a beautiful (very warm!) day, and strengthen the sense of community that makes the Providence District such a great place to live.

Tomorrow, we observe Juneteenth, the day when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is both a celebration of freedom and a reminder that liberty has not always been realized equally or immediately for all.

Grateful to be on hand for the Greater Oakton Community Association's open house at the Oakton Historic Schoolhouse. It was nice bumping into former Providence Supervisor Linda Smyth and seeing an excellent presentation about the building's history from one of our Madison students.

Great to attend the ribbon-cutting at Eakin Community Park, celebrating the new improvements. Thank you to the Fairfax County Park Authority and Supervisor Dalia Palchik for their partnership and investment in our community. Wonderful to see these enhancements come to life for residents to enjoy!

Great to visit Luther Jackson Middle School to celebrate student success in Algebra 1. Since 2022-23, enrollment in Algebra 1 or higher-level math among 8th graders has increased from 58% to 84.5%. Proud to see this progress firsthand!

April is Autism Acceptance Month — a time to celebrate and support autistic individuals and promote understanding, inclusion, and respect. We recognize the strengths and contributions of our autistic students and staff, and reaffirm our commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive schools for all.

Stenwood Elementary School’s own Ms. Flynn, a dedicated teacher, recently appeared on Wheel of Fortune and had an incredible run! Congratulations, Ms. Flynn—and thank you for all you do for our students!

April is the Month of the Military Child — a time to honor the resilience, strength, and sacrifices of military-connected students. We recognize their unique experiences and thank them for the important role they play in supporting their families and our nation.
