Want a kinder & more sustainable world. Mostly community volunteering and environmental activism when I have any energy. Devon, UK. he/they ♠️ #ClimateJustice #CivilDisobedience #TransRights #AntiFascist #EndCapitalism #LongCovid
Just Stop Oil ended their 3 year protest campaign after their reasonable demand for the UK Government stop licensing new oil, gas and coal projects, became government policy. What does Burnham expect to happen by reversing this? @just-stopoil.bsky.social
Took a week and a half for Evri to acknowledged that somehow my parcel has been "damaged beyond repair in transit", and then they ask me to contact the sender to get it resolved. Worst courier in the UK. Privatised corner cutting through and through.
Just did a very scary thing. Rang my next door neighbour's doorbell to talk to them about my sustainability gardening community organising project, and invite them to join. They did! I thought they might because they've got a lovely garden, but it was still a social-anxiety filled first step. 😅
Bedroom is too hot and no airflow. Resting on a camp bed in the back yard for now.
Still feeling slightly giddy. It was an awesome action. No arrests. I think we really embarrassed the university over their decision to allow fossil fuel funded sponsorship of their climate conference, in front of hundreds of world renowned climate scientists and leaders. 😁 #ExtinctionRebellion
Just had another visitor to my wildlife garden! I was amazed that the @obsidentify.bsky.social app managed to correctly recognise the grey and orange blur in the middle of the photo as a hummingbird hawk moth, but then its second guess was a frog. 😊 Will have to try getting a video next time.

The wildlife gardening in the back yard is going well. Had a rather lovely visitor today. 😍
All the luscious greens of my wildlife patch and pond hidden within it.
Had a good time at Exeter Pride today. Marched for a while with @takebackpower.bsky.social, wearing my Ace flag, dancing to the beats of the Devon Drummers behind us, then met up with a few others and sat in the sun in the park. Exhausted & back home resting now while the party continues in town.
Seems like someone has created a chatbot to spam bluesky about the environmental crisis, pretending it speaks for the Earth, because they reckon that will fix a global empathy problem & save us all. 🙄 Inevitably it doesn't understand what it's saying, confusing the issues while wasting resources.
Had this lovely orange tip butterfly visiting the flowers in the back yard today. 😊🌼🦋
I bought a sewing machine to help with repairing clothes and making flags & banners. Had a go fixing a tear in my pyjama shorts with a patch on the inside & some zigzag stitches. Can't say I did a good job, but I'm happy with it as a first learning attempt, and it felt easier than doing it by hand.
Still lots of work to do, but gradually making the back yard greener, wilder, better for nature. Spring is really showing the colours now. 😊🌱
Nearly home. This was just within the climate block of the Together Alliance march against the far right. Didn't get far as the march was backed up almost the length of the route so we didn't move for hours. Thankfully we had the lovely XR drummers keeping the energy up.
But Warren Oates echoed the government's claims, so they must be true, and the Starmer faithful have absolute confidence in his integrity and that he'd never lie or do anything wrong. 🙃
Spent the day assembling, measuring, sawing, sanding, further assembling, drilling and screwing. Turned the frame of an old fabric wardrobe my landlord had dumped in the yard into a garden workbench so I can grow seedlings in the sun without them being devoured by slugs and snails.
Post your favourite Lord of the Rings character. Wrong answers only.
I don't know who pasted the extra couple of words onto this Just Eat sign I saw in Bristol yesterday, but I think I love them. #Subvertising #CivilDisobedience #EatTheRich
First non-rainy Saturday morning this year, slightly frosty but sunny, went out for a bit of a walk. All the cafes on the quay were packed so didn't bother getting coffee & cake, but did make it down to a local half-rewilded park with a patch of woodland to listen to the birds & see the snowdrops.
Technically I think this is still a crime? but the high court have found that the government were acting unlawfully by making it a crime, so it probably won't be a crime for much longer, with all arrests and charges likely to be overturned. #CivilDisobedience
Improved Exeter flood defences being somewhat tested today. A few feet higher and they'd need to close the gates. I've seen it this high before but not since the weir downstream of the quay was lowered.
