She/Her/Elle. Rural Alberta. Socialist Beer Club. Pets, politics, education, literacy, daily minutia, and sometimes baking or gardening.
Had a crow stop by yesterday (and again today). Doesn't seem to have deterred my chickadees or finches though. So far.
"We were led to believe this was a nonpartisan event. We will no longer appear at Freedom 250!" #Freedom250
My sister is visiting Canada, from her home in Africa. She brought me this amazing notebook. Ambition are fleek, yo!
My town felt compelled to include a big bar graph with my property tax bill for the year, to highlight the increases in provincial tax that shows up on the bill collected by the municipality. But sure, lower taxes, Alberta advantage, etc...
Geezus! Rural Alberta community Facebook is especially offend tonight. This is about a dog that keeps escaping, posted as a reply in my community's "Ask Away" group. What the fuck does Trudeau or MAID have to do with this? (I tried to find an appropriate emoji for how I feel about this, no luck.)
Plants! My honey got a carpenter to build some shelves in to one of our windows, so I could start my own green wall. It's basically the only window in the house where plants grow well. But they are in desperate need of some attention...
I often miss having a dog, but Daisy is such a headcase - and not good with other quadrupeds - so I guess I'll wait till she clocks out before I decide to get another cat or dog... This is my old girl, Percy.
Daisy gets free access to kibble throughout the day. Theoretically, it is weight loss and joint stuff. At her last checkup, she had gained some weight. But at this point, she is old and gimpy, and both of us would be miserable if I tried to make her lose weight 😁
As seen in my local community Facebook group. Presumably, they are asking about chiropractors? Which is its own whole other thing all together...
We had another big snowfall over the last couple of days. Today I just had most of my chickadee regulars, and a couple of finches.
Just some of the things that are not available online, or in any other format... I'd love records, if we were still doing that 😀
I had some leftover pastry to use up, so I made a chicken pot pie. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough dough to make a top. Word to the wise - make sure you put a top on those. It looked kind of pretty before I tried to actually serve any. (Still tasted yummy though 😀)
Daisy seems to be enjoying my new hoodie from #PeaceLoveCanada @brittlestar.com
Of course. The Aussies want a piece of coal action here in our beautiful Rocky Mountains as well... And our provincial government is doing everything they can to make that happen. (Google AI overview. Sorry. Mostly accurate, except for the propaganda at the end.)
Nice! I recently got some dinosaurs for myself, and they make me happy!
Yayy! My order from @loxy.bsky.social has arrived. I know my mum will love these! Good thing I am not much of a jewelry person, otherwise it would be really hard to give these away. They are gorgeous! (I am keeping the dumpster fire earrings for myself though 😀)
Here she is on the kitchen table, where she is definitely not supposed to be, enjoying the afterglow from her Delectables licky stick.
Daisy isn't great at making friends, but I'll see what I can do!
Buying a birdcam might be the best investment, monetarily, I have made in my own mental health since Honey died 💜
Purple pirate daisy. Not completely impressed with my choice of costume for her 💜
I turned notifications off for my birdcam, as it is generally most busy when I am trying to be productive at work. Just reviewed a week's worth of visitors. Damn I love this thing, and these birdies 💜
Lots of chickadee traffic this morning. And I can hear the robins in the tree. They don't seem to have found their way to the free buffet yet though.
This is the ridiculous lobster I bought at the airport on our way home. (I am allergic to real lobster, by the way.)
