Just played through the first couple chapters of Knuckle Sandwich. Holy shit this game is GOOD. Absurd humour, clever writing, unhinged visuals, engaging combat, and banging experimental soundtrack. It's got everything. But I'm not sure I'll ever eat at Gorilla Burger. 🍔😬
Super excited to share that I'll be hosting the Gameloft Brisbane charity stream this Friday. 🎤 It kicks off at 4pm and will have MTG games, a D&D one-shot, a bunch of local indie games, and some awesome money-can't-buy giveaways. All donations go towards Starlight Australia!
Had a delightful Big Walk session with @valkian.bsky.social this evening exploring the opening couple hours of the game. Some simple yet wonderfully creative co-op puzzles! Very excited to see what surprises the island has waiting for us.
Stoked to have worked on The Bluey's Happy Snaps Activity Book Edition! 📘 This physical version of the game comes bundled with a 48-page activity book filled with activities for kids and parents to enjoy together. A lot of love and effort has gone into making this a genuinely valuable extra.
They say "Start 'em young!" 👶🏻🎮 Well I found just the thing. Turns out Fisher Price makes GameBoys! Kind of, anyway. This GameBoy-adjacent handheld is honestly adorable. The perfect way to raise a little gamer (without corrupting her with screens just yet).
Picked up these PS4 games today for $2 a pop from my local op shop. Physical media that costs a fraction of the price of their digital counterparts AND I get to own it forever. How good. 👌
A stellar night celebrating the music of video games with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, hosted by the wonderful @musophrenic.bsky.social. Such a brilliant setlist - from mandatory classics like Zelda and Journey, to lesser-heard pieces from L.A. Noire and the heavenly music of Jessica Curry.
Twenty five years ago, players booted up their brand new Xbox to be greeted by a title screen and an opening that would remain with them for a lifetime. Master Chief returns once again, this time making his debut on PlayStation. But does it carry the same impact? www.qualbert.com/reviews/halo...
For the first time ever, Qualbert is heading to Gamescom! ✈️ From a tiny independent website to the world's biggest gaming convention, we couldn't be more excited for next month. If you're a dev, publisher, or just want to chat at Gamescom, get in touch at info@qualbert.com. See you in Cologne! 👋
Scored a bargain and picked up the recent remake of Final Fantasy Tactics for less than half price! ⚔️ I'll be saving this for the flight to/from Gamescom to keep me entertained on the ~30 hour longhaul journey to Germany. No better way to pass the time than an incredible game!
If you've never seen it, do yourself a favour and watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople. An unforgettable performance from Sam Neill. A transformation from closed off, unlikeable old man, to one of the most beautiful people you've ever seen on screen. That's the kind of storytelling Sam Neill brought us.
Bonus points for sharing a pic of your dog below. 👇 Here's my good boy: Rex! He passed away over 10 years ago, but I'll never forget the many amazing years I had with him.
Finally gave The Bloat a taste of his own medicine. Take that, you scummy two-eyed bastard.
Among the celebrations, the team also got a few special goodies, including a pair of Bluey ears. Here's me looking just a bit chuffed.
Big day at work today: we celebrated Bluey's Happy Snaps going gold! 🙌 The first time I've ever been on a project with a physical gold master, so I finally appreciate just how much this milestone means. Really proud of the whole Gameloft Brisbane team. Can't wait to share the game with the world!
Thanks to the wonderful team at @pridefulsloth.com, we had the pleasure of attending their studio today ahead of the release of Go-Go Town! next week on PC and Switch. It's actually so satisfying to see the ways that local game developers and media/creators can support each other like this. 🥰
I love how stupid these games are with no explanation at all.
This is an actual screenshot from the new Rhythm Heaven game. No, I'm not kidding. Video in the comments
Show me a cool physical game The Japanese-exclusive Naruhodo Legends collection - the original Ace Attorney trilogy and The Great Ace Attorney 1 & 2 across two physical cartridges. No download required!
The bonus musical RPG mode in the new Rhythm Heaven game is brilliant - easily my favourite part of the game! Need an entire game in this style. 🎶
Nintendo's final first party release on the Nintendo Switch... and it even comes with a physical version of the game! Now isn't that nice? 😉
As far as I know, this is the only fighting game where scantily clad anime girls get beat up by a crying baby. How could you say no to that for only $2?
A top notch Queensland Games Festival as always - but the highlight this year wasn't a game. It was meeting the creator of Bluey: Joe Brumm! Had a lovely chat all about how far the series has come, some behind-the-scenes info, and his thoughts on Bluey's Happy Snaps (which were super positive!).
The Queensland Games Festival is today! 🎉 Come along to the Brisbane Powerhouse for a free event with 30+ playable games made locally, interviews with devs, free workshops, and dev mentorship sessions. Help share the news and let's make this the biggest Queensland Games Festival yet. 🙌
Beauty and the Beast is one of the most iconic Disney films of all-time, so we're delighted to reveal a new Lorcana card themed after one of its villain songs. 🎶 Join Gaston and save the village from the dreaded Beast in this new card and find out about the set on Qualbert.com 👈
The Qualbert.com team are heading back to PAX AUS this year as media! 🙌 Last year, we provided our best coverage yet: dev interviews, indie wrap-ups, and our favourites across videogames and tabletop. If you're showcasing, get in touch at qualbertgaming@gmail.com and we'll catch you at PAX! 🎪
