Singing to the sea, the sky, the land. Blendian. Immunocompromised af. They/She. Pfp by Porridge the Pigeon. Minnesota Stoic. “Trauma is an unrelenting beast. It never quite leaves our side. But that doesn’t mean we owe it a damn thing.”
Forreal tho. Witness the glory: four deeply smoked turkey legs, a medium brown, one has been carved upon because resistance is futile.
I had been planning this for weeks: smoked some giant turkey legs which have been on sale in Tesco, probably because nobody knows how to cook them. Gotta go low, slow, and moist heat for turkey legs and wings. Brined, smoked on apple and hickory, now in freezer to carve off as charcuterie.
My early birthday present from my husband is sending me: I learned how to type on my mother's old Underwood - the type that needed a black/red ribbon and you had to flip it around to change the print. This is rather delightful. Don't think I can game on it, but I squee!
The one good thing about this terrible weather (none of my fruit is doing anything, it's barely double digits at night) is the peonies finally popped open this morning. And they changed colour to pink. No idea why.
On this day, the cat we called the Derp (we loved him, we loved him) made a terrible decision out of an overwhelming need for jalepeno-cheese flavoured pretzels. Nothing was learned.
He could leave us in a car he could leave us like he left the bar To Silicon Valley upon a plane, Or to un-central Europe up a train. Not picking a fight, Not starting a row, But Starmer, mate, go right effing NOW.
*raises a hand* I might be able to help you with this: I can 3D print ring splints. I'm working on the hand splint modifications now. I have some critiques on the ring splints at the bottoms due to print necessity but they work pretty well. These are prototype in a dual-coloured matte I tried out.
"Sea kale may smell of honey." Holy hells, it absolutely smells VERY MUCH of honey. Like "I now wonder if this was a mistake planting this next to my window" overpowering levels of honey, but it's glorious when the breeze wafts it my way. Bees are ignoring the other blossoms rn.
We take nerf wars very, very seriously in our house when the adult Offspring are home. It's been such a long tradition I've been finding Nerf darts tucked into furniture for decades. This bad boy is mine; just need the cartridges. May the odds be in your favour.
I tend my apple trees, and wait to prune out the apples this year for a better harvest. I think of you every time, and think of your family resting in my garden after a long journey. I still have hope for it. I am doing my best, as you are. Love to all of you.
Man this movie makes me angry: a rant on abuse of disabled children and privileged neglect - because it will never cease to infuriate me I lost custody of a child due to a racially motivated rumour and never got her back; but white mothers can kill their kids and face no repercussions
No kidding; I loved this, but if it was my turn to choose telly that night and turned it on, everyone shouted me down, groaned and I lost my turn at tv night. Now I think about it, I never got a turn at tv night, so I instead caught the reruns at midnight as I've been insomniac always.
My original rings were in sterling silver but my hand size is variable, and I often had to keep rearranging them. They got lost or sizing is now too off to use, but a full set of silver rings is no joke financially. So, printing them is a great alternatives, and there's COLOURS! Dual-colour matte.
Did the thing! Got some rechargable tea lights that work well in these, and that shelf now has illumination.
Didn't have the heart to talk about it, but the elder familiar, Voodoo, has left the mortal realm after 18 years of service. I was able to fulfil my promise of holding him as he fell asleep forever in my arms. Chase all the mice, go kick your brother's ass a few times, and I'll see you around, mate.
The sea-kale gives zero damns about freezing temperatures, and even the poor light conditions aren't a concern. Grows very strong downward taproot, and a maze of thick root systems; I think this plant used to provide loch shore stability...until the Victorians uprooted it all. Rewilding, go!
I love it <3!!! Hubs printed out the butterfly body for me, looks like a Monarch, so I think I will light this a bright orange-yellow. I'd like a Swallowtail or two but we'll see. A fun project and he's awesome <3
They turned my mans into a purrito. It was as hilarious as it looks, and he glared at them all with the murder of a thousand suns. Home, waiting for results. Might be a bright point at the end, but for now, venison steak and forgiveness.
Neurospicy offspring and I communicate in pop culture allegories; the mythology of stories helps them make sense of the world, and we get how we use it. On days like this, this one makes an appearance.
If my only worthy contribution to Bluesky is banging recipes, then yanno what, I'll take it. My patron deity: I, too, would feed with the world, with rice enough, health, and time. leemoyer.wordpress.com/2020/08/31/k...
Since I was so tired of only leaving the house for medical appointments and there was a break in weather, we decided to go drive around Loch Sween, and the light was incredible - golden hour, but all day.
My elder cat had a brother (he passed last year) who used to think this was a perfectly acceptable way to sleep. He was snoring.
If you want to know why the Indigenous community goes so hard for Palestine, I'll give you a hint: when people were trying to hold off the US government at Standing Rock, the Palestinian people were showing solidarity, then, and now.
Last night I swear I was being treated by the Nurse in Hotel Artemis and I have never felt more relaxed about a health care crisis in my life.
Yeah, this La Llorona is fire, I am loving this costume this year. Finally could get something with Bright Dust, and I am content.
Work in progress, while getting some great advice from my Offspring on how to use colour dodge. Thanks to @adorkastock.com for the pose, I hope to finish this up this week. I loved my Mourn Watch necromage in Dragon Age.
