I'm listening to Confessions II on a loop just now, and it's been a very long time since I've been grabbed like this by a Madonna album. As a fan since I was about 5, it's so so healing to have the new album be an absolute BEAST and some of the best stuff she's done. Ever, maybe. Stunning 😭😭😭

Finally got my Enhanced DBS check through and will be taking on more students for exam season, over the summer, and the 26/27 academic year.
Here's the original line art for this page, and Jules's final colours, which are moodier than the gaudy flats, and lead the eye around the page using contrast and pops of colour 💅 I loved working on this project, getting to sit with Jules's art up close was a dream 💓

The book, Making Time, is all but done and ready to deliver 😱 After nearly a decade of study and going from Masters to PhD to book has nearly broken me several times and I kind of don't know who I am any more but it's nearly over... Can't wait to get it out into the world tho 💖✨✨✨

Still reeling from seeing Chappell Roan (and JADE!) on Tuesday, my photos are gash, but the gig was sooooo good! (Thanks to Jules for the ticket as a birthday present! 💖). I'm so happy I got to see Chappell, the staging was incredible and she's just an absolute legend, pure power pop! 💕💕💕
After a long, long period of dealing with life, (un)employment, mental health problems including a post-PhD nervous breakdown and mystical/spiritual crises, I'm finally fully focused on finishing my monograph, Making Time.
This is why it's so difficult to move away from monopolistic tech companies - the alternatives are also shite. Offering AI as an alternative when your (checks notes) entire search engine (which is, y'know, the WHOLE THING) is down just isn't doing it for me 🤔

Hey #portfolioday I'm Garry, an illustrator, writer, researcher and community arts facilitator from Glasgow. I produce queer pop culture illustrations for clients and commissions and do a lot of third sector work, especially with marginalised participant-led groups and projects.
First I've caught my breath since the weekend! Glasgow Zine Fair 2025 was a magnificent triumph! Honestly, one of the best of these kinds of events I think I've ever been to!
