I am pleased to see the multi-year, above inflation pay rise for teachers. This means that pay will rise by 3.5% from September 2026 and 3% from September 2027. This increase is backed by £1.8 billion for schools and £485 million for colleges. #York #Teachers #TeacherPay #Politics

I hosted Our Planet Our Future, an environmental conference run by & for young people. It was an inspiring event, bringing together ideas & creativity of young people across #York in order to fight for a better climate & a better future. Thanks to everyone involved & all who attended.
For Drowning Prevention Week I met with #York Rescue Boat who do incredible work keeping people safe. Please remember the risks our rivers carry, & three key words to keep yourself safe: phone, float & throw. I appreciate all that volunteers and fundraisers are doing, it is invaluable. #riversafety

We are at a dangerous brink, where innocent lives of civilians are threatened without regard for international law. We need peace. UK air bases cannot be used and complicit in such war crimes and I join the calls for them to be withdrawn if they are to be used in this way.
