When I was a kid, the Science Center in Greensboro was dinky and run down. It has since grown in leaps and bounds to become a decent sized zoo and aquarium. Now they are in the process of building a huge and very ambitious greenhouse, which they call a biodome.
Yesterday I went to the NC Zoo. A wild green heron has built its nest on a tree suspended over the alligator enclosure. I guess maybe the alligators mean you aren't likely to have your eggs stolen by e.g. a raccoon, but it seems like a high-risk strategy to me.
Update: as forecast at the hearing yesterday, the government has appealed the existing preliminary injunction (which at this point only lasts until the judge rules on yesterday's hearing). This seems to be preparation for another appeal when they lose the issue from yesterday.

Today I took a day off work and went to a place I have never been before: Cliffs of the Neuse State Park in Wayne County, NC. It does indeed have cliffs, as well as some nice bald cypress swamp.

This is some bullshit right here: they argue that because the President has absolute immunity, his attorneys must have immunity as well. In addition to being a complete non-sequitur, it ignores that DOJ *is not the President's personal attorneys*
The primary consequence is additional training. Any ICE agent that doesn't take the training will no longer have authority to make arrests.
