It sounds great in person. I was hoping for the boot sound and some Crash Bandicoot OST or something iconic like all the other console ornaments, but at least it’s the entire sequence as if a bootable game is in the drive.
It’s not 2028 yet but this new PlayStation doesn’t run physical discs. It does play the full startup sound, however. It joins my set of the NES, SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Xbox, and Xbox 360. Hoping for but not expecting to see SMS,TG-16, Jaguar, Saturn, GameCube, Wii U. Maybe GameCube. Handhelds?

Games also make up the lion's share of the removed apps — almost 200K were zapped in 16 months. No doubt many of them for cloning other games and blatant IP infringement.
Oh, we made another chart. This one shows that new app *releases* on Google Play are actually up nearly 10% in the first four months of 2025. Games are still the biggest portion of those.
The decline actually began before Google's cleanup initiative and rebounded a bit after the EU trader status rule variation kicked in requiring developers to disclose their name and address on their app/game's store page. We made a chart, of course.
What a day! What's going to happen tomorrow? I'm not sure, but at least we know how to handle it!
