Anthropic released a new desktop application: Claude Science - which is actually an open-source tool called Operon (they don't hide it) primarily built for life-science research. Let's do a literature overview. Immediately, Claude Science attributes a reference to the wrong author. This is fine.

Umm, please check that "Wimmer 2022" reference. I can't find it.

Good catch — let me look at that one more carefully. It's a TechRxiv preprint (DOI 10.36227/techrxiv.21760715), which is exactly the kind of record that can be flaky.

The record itself is real, but my author label was wrong — that's the actual problem. The paper exists (OpenAlex W4312131873, CrossRef, with a live PDF on TechRxiv), but it is not by Wimmer. The authors are Felix Fillafer, Thomas Brugger, Stefan M. Herzog, and Jörg Dahlkemper — a different group (Dahlkemper is at HAW Hamburg), unrelated to the Regensburg/Wimmer line. I incorrectly assumed it was the same group and pattern-matched the name. Apologies — that's exactly the kind of attribution error worth catching.

Yeah, might be AI-generated. However, the Fibonacci sequence makes sense here. These numbers are commonly chosen to estimate the amount of work needed for implementing a feature (as a unitless, abstract, intentionally imprecise measure). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_st...

Usage:

"BlackCore did not respond to repeated messages sent via a contact form on its website" This might be because the contact form was non-functional by design. There should have been a pop-up 'confirming' submission but an extraneous '}' in the JavaScript code prevented its execution.

Oh sorry - I seem to have misremembered that! It seems that the USB connector on the early TipToi models did not allow for charging. That was never an issue for us - just replace the batteries (if you have fresh ones lying around) - no need to plug in pen and wait until it is charged.

Inspired by the Mirage paper¹, I asked ChatGPT to identify an image I did not actually upload. It described this image in some detail but said that the text was to blurry. Luckily, it could upscale the non-existing image on request. chatgpt.com/share/69f8c7... ¹) arxiv.org/abs/2603.21687

The text is too small/blurry for me to read confidently, so I can identify the structure but not the exact labels.

It’s probably a sketch for something like a directory tree, taxonomy, project structure, menu hierarchy, or data model.

Interessant: der Tankrabatt wurde 2022 regional sehr unterschiedlich weitergegeben. Insbesondere in Bayern ist nur die Hälfte der Entlastung bei den Tankenden angekommen - im Norden mehr als 100% (was mMn auch ein Artefakt der Messmethode sein kann). www.rwi-essen.de/presse/wisse...
