The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil (Mon Mothma, Andor). The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common (Adam Serwer). Sh*tposts and takes on politics, movies, culture, whatever.
Christopher Nolan is a temperamentally conservative guy but he became a political lib at this exact moment:
@cameroncorduroy.bsky.social I regret to inform you they’re at it again
I'd like Dems to win more in rural America but it's not realistic to believe Democrats will win a majority anytime soon. Even if Harris won the popular vote by 20% she would lost the rurals. People can delude themselves into believing there's urban project to destroy rural America, but there's not.
Ana de Armas didn’t return many calls, this too, is civil war.
It really feels like some people have incorrectly identified someone who lives in this house as "rural poor" when in fact these people probably pull down something like $60k per year which is perfectly middle-class for the area.
It's interesting the degree to which AI2027 has sort of gotten the pace of advancement right but the utility fairly wrong: AI is only rapidly displacing humans at coding and productivity isn't skyrocketing. Stock market isn't skyrocketing.
Looking at the radar it will probably storm off and on in DC throughout the night. The heat is probably gone for severe weather though.
This guy worries that America lacks sufficient unity and that people might try to take citizenship from each other but also hates birthright citizenship. Were he capable of thinking about this at all he’d realize the irony.
3-FINAL/ The newer movie basically has Stanley blurt out the theme.
I know you get tsk-tsked for crosstab diving here but Fox's Maine poll has Susan Collins +12 with Gen Z and Platner narrowly winning Boomers and independents. Collins is only ahead because she gets 11% of the Dem vote. Sure, Jan! So while I'm not happy about the race I wouldn't panic yet.
Academics: “it’s not a partisan court, it’s an originalist court” Posters: “it’s a partisan court”
I appreciate him saying the quiet part out loud. Despite all conservative advocacy for middle America, their true belief is that it’s time for a lot of rural white places to go the way of the dodo.
1/ 1) I think that you should follow the MPAA ratings, in other words, don't show 13 year-olds R-rated movies 2) The amount of PG-13 movies with actual nudity (including boobs) is pretty much a rounding error 3) It's someone's fault there's porn all over the Internet. But not Hollywood's!
"What do you mean he's writing spin-offs on HBOMAX?"
If you know what the DSA is or anyone who won the primaries earlier this week you’re in a bubble. Not saying you’re right or wrong but I am doubting these primaries will make a huge impact on 2028.
I don't think being a small business owner qualifies as "passive income" in this case. IMO passive income to me is selling, renting, licensing off an asset you happen to have. This guy is making stuff, even indirectly.
Jaime Harrison had the best performance for a Democratic Senate candidate in South Carolina in the 21st century. He actually ran slightly ahead of Biden in the state. Doesn't make him right about everything but he knows what's he doing.
1/ Old map from reddit but you can see that homicide rates loosely are poverty + urbanness. The South is a great deal poorer and has above average homicide rates, Appalachia isn't spared from poverty either.
A certain kind of poaster has early 2020s GOP brain where they imagine if they knock off Jefferies a secret, edgy, more effective Speaker is waiting in the wings, and they aren't.
Leftie critics of USAID are like "how come we used big government and big corporations to help impoverished communities when we could just give them the resources to do it themselves?" What exactly is foreign aid again?
Another $180 billion in market cap gone since this morning.
