Also, not important, but the things kryptonite exposure does to Kryptonians in this telling are really good. Viscerally upsetting and strange and alien looking, it makes them not only weak but makes them Look more alien themselves, which really tied into the themes of earlier seasons. It rules.
The fact that even after everyone else dies, Kara steps up to be a parent because the bonds that draw our Superfamily are so strong is both an of-course beat I could have seen coming, and adds so much nuance and depth to Kara. Nothing but bangers, this show.
Lex being called a coward and immediately trying to use Lois (the person in the room who has proved themselves drastically more physically and emotionally competent than him on now multiple occasions) as a human shield is such a baller writing move. How very Lex of him.
Wade, showing up just to be a petty little scrungus is so perfect. Yes he is awful and potentially making everything worse. Yes I also love him for it. He is my lil' meowmeow and he can be as awful as he wants (we will enjoy punishing him for it later)
See, here's the thing, we're so many levels past ok. At this point Clark knows this man murders him in an alternate future. He's been thrown through a skyscraper, had to save a child Henshaw intentionally put in danger and still. He's trying to reach him. It's beautiful. How I'm trying to be.
Showing us how beautiful the status quo is by having it viewed by someone to whom it is alien, and having them talk about how wonderful it all seems? I know I say this almost every episode, but that's a good narrative beat, Brent.

Honestly, Lois closing this arc by connecting with Jon (almost a literal personification of the thing she is scared of) is perfect. Accepting him as she is accepting the future. I'm glad that as these media properties age, sometimes we get distillations of what's best about them.

Honestly, I think that this is also one of the most powerful things stories can do. Providing models for the people who watch them, so that folks can think about them and reach toward or away from them. We practice and share information and ways of being with each other, and learn to be better.
YOU MEAN THAT INSTEAD OF AIMLESS BUMBLING WE TALK THOUGHTFULLY WITH OTHERS ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH US IN WAYS THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE AND KIND TO OTHERS AND OURSELVES? Superman, at its best. Showing how people could be, so they can reach for it.
Lex doesn't need to make up for mauling someone in his employ, what he really needs is them to acknowledge the power he has over them, that he's a big strong in-charge boy. I'm in this show for the sweet romance, but we are also pulling some really good beats with our villains.
Honestly, the fact that Henshaw's lil' "Puny God" throwing around of Deadshot only broke one of his arms is kinda impressive. But the thing I really care about is they battered my favorite awful man. Look at the little meow meow sulking. Perfect. Now make him suffer more.
I know I went from having Doubts to gassing up this show again in like two episodes, but golly it is so good. (Jon Kent's crashout is also super valid.)
