Many years ago I tried reading some modern philosophy. Couldn't get to grips with most of it (I'm more of a maths/physics nerd). But I did like Guy Debord's Society of the Spectacle. These two images came up on my Bluesky feed today and I was reminded of that book.
Net migration is set to fall to zero soon. But immigration will still come up on the doorstep. Until people's lives improve they will blame immigration because it has become the default reason, regardless of the facts. If Lab keep repeating Reform talking points, this isn't a surprise.
I suspect people support the proposals in the abstract but when they realise it affects someone they know, they oppose them. Lots of people have friends, family and colleagues who are affected by ILR.
