Do you ever think about how bonkers-pants it is that a DevTool vender can have a legitimately compelling selling point of: “We are not trying to build God” Cause I think about that a lot.
A few months ago, billionaire venture capitalists Andreessen and Horowitz interviewed acclaimed record producer Rick Rubin on the topic of #VibeCoding. Their tagline: "Vibe Coding is the Punk Rock of software" I duly recruited a qualified punk for comment. Enjoy! youtu.be/XP7UXspsggw
This is such a profound insult to the Tao Te Ching. That version was produced from 8 years of study in the 1980s and they’ve haphazardly pasted words like “code” in random places to ride a meme from a Karpathy tweet. Anthropic should be embarrassed to have paid Rick Rubin to put his name on this.
Excellent point, @nilsbfg.bsky.social, I’ll do better. Ran into the notorious @quinnypig.com at Code with Claude conference in San Francisco. (Haters will say it’s AI) Watch your cloud bills!
This was the introduction of the term Vibe Coding, but more I think of it the phrase “Embrace Exponentials” is actually pretty revealing, more I think of it
As much as I appreciate the other achievements, the biggest innovation in the o3's ARC-AGI announcement was graphing Cost on a logarithmic scale.
Besides, if we replace a natural language with something like Lojban, and therefore cuts us off from all the speakers of natural language, what have we gained? The point was to be able to communicate better - that requires someone to communicate with! As @xkcd.com famously said. xkcd.com/191/
