If you live in California and have room for a massive bee attraction get a Giant Buckwheat (eriogonum giganteum). It is a native plant that is pollinator central. Native bees and wasps are drawn to it. Sometimes I have to stop and watch all the insects that are on it.
I'm too old for keeping my shit together. I prefer scattering it around the house for my mom to discover.
When my mom became bedridden and was cared for at home the care givers would always allow the cat on the bed with her.
Happy Father's Day, to the Ancient Mariner on your eternal voyage in unknown seas. RIP.
The Bates Mosquito Motel is open for the summer holiday. Do drop in 🦟
Also If you are a gardener or a curious outdoors lover I highly recommend iNaturalist. I have been planting California natives in my yards for over a decade and it has drawn all sorts of native butterflies and weird bugs.
this is the dog. He likes eating off of cat plates. His other hobbies include sleeping and peeing on the floor in his doggie diapers. The joys of being a 17 year old dog.

Some day I dream of replacing it with induction. This one dates to 2000. Still working 🤣
Pray tell, how do you get a compression suit on a horse? Is there a zipper somewhere. I have a hard enough time getting a t shirt or sweater on my dog.
I forgot one other group: fundamentalist christians. For some reason they think he was sent by god. Mind you the same god that sent plagues and locusts to Egypt.
Your moment of nature: Western Pygmy Blue on an Achillea (common yarrow)
My last kitty Ernie died 2 years ago at age 22. He was born behind a dumpster at my Uni. I had him from the time he was a tiny kitten. I know how hard it is to say goodbye.
I was in 2nd grade. The teacher came in and dismissed the class. She said the president had been shot. I went to the drugstore and bought two newspapers. I still have them. sealed in plastic bags.
I attended a No Kings in Seal Beach, California and there were people of all ages including many boomers. Lots of veterans as well.
