Just realised I didn’t clarify that Against All Odds is a remake of Out of the Past. Jane Greer is in both.

Against All Odds is akin to Coppola’s Dracula in its attempt to bend a love story out of source material that is very much not such. Also like Dracula, it falls off sharply when the story returns to home territory. There is a half-hearted feint at Chinatown.
