I keep using all my good lasagne mulching cardboard to make new protest signs.
First frozen egg. It's cold out there! Too bad the surface of the pond was covered in slush before the cold. With two sick kids in the house we aren't going anywhere anyways.
Feels like March outside, so we took the opportunity to do a little harvesting. Here's the mid-January harvest from our jury-rigged high tunnel/chicken coup in Midcoast Maine. Tatsoi, mizuna, claytonia, chickory, arugula, kale, carrots, and leaks #fourseasonharvest #gardensky

Rodents seem to have majorly screwed up our office wiring, and someone just knocked over our mailbox slipping on the black ice, and I still have 3/4 of a roof to finish, but guys, Christmas is going to happen
Susan Collins sent me our first mailer of the 2026 cycle. It's like they cooked it up in a lab to piss me off. Honestly I don't know what they are thinking. To be sure, there is no accounting for the Bill Greens of the world, but I can't see how this treacle helps them.
Today I am measuring dead whales, roofing a shed, and skeeting with Heather Cox Richardson.
For 9+ years I had not changed my hairstyle, longer than I have known my wife. Then our preschooler came home with lice. No more long hair! I only regret our daughter won't get to braid it.
I was the youngest person at the Post Office today, probably by a good 20 years. A surprising number of visitors to the PO, and more traffic than I expected. Apparently there was another protest at the next PO down the road as well. Hard to have missed.
