Oh wow, Tricky Towers was released 10 years ago. Time flies! I learned so much while working on this at WeirdBeard, and had such a great time with my colleagues. Only the 6 of us on the core team!

Damn it, was halfway through overhauling (and deleting) a bunch of complex, non-intuitive code - then had a sick day. Have come back to it today (though perhaps should have had second sick day tbh..) and have no clue where I was up to. Yay for version control, but..

Oh, fuck me dead, I posted this before reading news that Tony Abbott is urging the government to properly join the war on the side of Israel and the US. How can anyone look at what is happening and still want to call Israel an ally? They are bombing civilians in multiple countries. War crimes!

Tony Abbott says Australia should be prepared to go to war: ‘What’s the point of having armed forces’

The former prime minister Tony Abbott says Australia should be prepared to go to war amid the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, saying the nation had let our main ally down, “but also betrayed our values and our long-term national interest”.

Abbott wrote an opinion piece in the Daily Telegraph today, asking why the nation has armed forces if they won’t be used. He said:

What is the point of having armed forces if they’re not to be used to support our allies in a just cause, and what could be a more just cause than the US-Israeli bid to deny Iran nuclear weapons, uphold freedom of navigation in the Hormuz Straits and – if possible – liberate Iran from a monstrous theocracy? …

By ostentatiously standing aside from the current conflict, doing even less than the pusillanimous British government, we have not just let down our main ally but also betrayed our values and our long-term national interest.

Abbott went on to say Australia needed to be “strong again, as our forebears were”.

April Fools can just get in the bin. My Facebook feed is full of jokes about transport that are actually great ideas. Cops joking about giving up patrol cars for bikes, "pedal lanes" on highways during the fuel crisis, the return of the Sydney monorail.

I still think the least realistic part of Only Murders in the Building is Selena Gomez' character getting text responses from her old man buddies almost immediately. Trying to coordinate them tomorrow for a thing that has had a time change and.. just impossible. Also some of them don't even text.
