Born in Leeds, raised in Weymouth and now settled in Ham straddling the Kingston/Richmond border in SW London. I love walking, theatre, architecture, politics, radio drama, pubs and reading comics.
Did not expect to be having lunch in Ewell with Dan Dare and The Mekon!
Following the delightful Henry Moore sculpture trail around @rbgkew.bsky.social for #FingerpostFriday
While we are repeatedly being told that AI is about to make everything much better and easier, Apple Maps is telling me that I need to cross Barnes Bridge, do a small loop and then cross it again back to where I started in order to get to my destination. #AIsucks
I belong to @nationaltrust.org.uk just to go to Ham House whenever I like. The gardens and the exterior of the house are gorgeous. Once every few years I go inside the house too.
Spending the weekend with likeminded people at #Marxism2026 organised by @socialistworker.bsky.social
What show am I about to see in The Little at @swkplay.bsky.social?
Only 1.9km to Botany Bay from Enfield Chase when following London Loop Section 17. #FingerpostFriday
The world may be going to hell in a handcart but I’m in Chelsea watching @sparksofficial.bsky.social so today is good.
I am revisiting London Loop this year and this leaning fingerpost is near the start of section 16b. The fingers are still pointing in the right direction so all is well. #FingerpostFriday #LoveLondonWalkLondon
Something spiky from St James’s Park, London for #FingerpostFriday.
I have walked 2026km in 2026 with @gojauntly.bsky.social. Somewhat slower than last year due to health issues but it’s a decent achievement nonetheless. #LoveWalking
I see that I can turn left in the palace grounds for Royal School of Needlework but the paths to the right are something of a mystery. Maybe its dragons. #FingerpostFriday
An early start at @rbgkew.bsky.social for the new Henry Moore sculpture trail.
Next week I am fortunate to be seeing Balletboyz perform at @sadlerswells.bsky.social but today I was even more fortunate to sit in on their rehearsals at their Kingston studio for a couple of hours. It was all the sorts of magic you would expect it to be.
Something modern and very yellow from Gunnesbury Park London for #FingerpostFriday. It's also somewhat unnecessary as you can see all the things it points to from that spot.
Absolutely! I really hate that NHS app is littered with unnecessary advertising pages like this one.
Something to help you find your way around the excellent Swiss Bread Bakery in Ham, Richmond upon Thames. #FingerpostFriday
I have come to Hampton Court for the tulips and the other gardens and the palace are magnificent too.
Quite an attractive entry for #FingerpostFriday but one that hardly qualifies as on the section of Thames Path from Richmond Lock to Kew Green there are no opportunities to turn off so the direction signs are pointless, the distances are useful though.
Siri thinks I should dial-in to the concert I am attending and am present at. #AIisCrap
Another brilliant night in The Cavern, Raynes Park watching Rainbow in Rock doing what it says on the tin.
One day I hope to make it to The Fan Museum but this time it was another trip to Greenwich Theatre for some Neil Labute. #FingerpostFriday
