Update: These little bunnies appear to be doing fine today nested under the purple basket, shaded by the Red Oak tree.
Red Oak tree providing cool shade for the recently discovered bunnies in their nest and resident squirrels.
Cottontail bunnies nested under my front tree week two. I secured a laundry basket cover with 6x7 opening(brick on top) so the mother has access and they are protected from the few feral cats that pass through the yard at night. They're about ready to go out into the world soon.
This red oak tree is 30+ now. I'm thankful everyday for the cooling shade and beauty as temperatures have rocketed into the 90° range. No doubt this is a big reason I can keep my cooling thermostat set on 79°. Interesting that "a glass bottle left in the sunshine" creates risk of fire"🤔
My family's Westward travels by covered wagon from Alabama to Indian Territory, now called the state of Oklahoma was researched and is documented on our families online history site. Credit for researching, documenting and sourcing work goes to Diane Bell and David Davis.
This poem served as my guide since I first read it back in 1977. It's guided me throughout my years as a social worker, mother, teacher youth librarian and today as a 🚸 guard.

I carry the images from this book in my mind... They remind me of my purpose is in this lifetime. That it was withdrawn from a public library and i purchased it for 25¢ is remarkable. It was impossible to read and see these beautiful candid photographs and not be changed spiritually.
What an amazing painting. Meg Fryermuth is an artist from Las Cruces NM. Love her art.

Nope. Not seeing that. A friend who lives near Gordon AZ sent this of her granddaughter, a teen sweating it out for what she believes.
