Minnesota Ontario border. Our family (ancestral) cabins are here. First Nations already evacuated, possibly burned to the ground. Absolutely terrifying. Apocalyptic.
France-Spain today. These are my two of my second homes. I played rugby in France and fell in love in Spain (wait for the memoire, peeps. It's gonna be lit). If I had to choose, I'd say Spain, but I love Mbappé and a lot of the French players as well. Keep the flopping to a bare minimum, boys.
Many of you don't know what the Boundary Waters/Quetico are & may not be tuning in, but this heat wave plus dry lightning has sparked MANY large wildfires across the border lakes, north into Canada. 1st-Nations evacuated. The word I got from a Canadian CO friend is "grim." Our cabin is up there.
The West African and east Indian immigrant communities doing their thing in Winnipeg on a Saturday morning. 😊
And now… the drive to Winnipeg. Topping off in Thief River Falls. Learning about charging locations and range.
Did my first longish drive with the IONIC 6 today. Holy shit, what a ride! I'm telling you: Decent EVs are a world ahead of clunky ICE cars. Yeah, yeah, I know: Not everyone can afford a buy right now. But here's the thing: These are the future. There ain't no going back. Embrace it!
Canada and Winnipeg Folk Fest for the next four days, peeps. Gonna be hot as hell! I'll be at the entrance, welcoming, greeting, and bag-checking! Come say hello/salut!
I spoke for around 20 minutes w my good friends, the legacy auto makers, in Detroit this morning. Their recovery is going well & they are looking forward to getting back out on the road, replacing much of their workforce with AI, & resuming production of overpriced, inefficient, polluting vehicles.
There needs to be a massive public campaign effort in the African countries and elsewhere to explain that Russia is recruiting their young men to certain death on the Ukrainian front. My some estimates, the average lifespan of new arrivals is less than one hour.
Buy an EV. Really. You will be shocked at how much you like it and at how long we have been putting up with dirty, inefficient, 19th-century, ICE technology. And you only have to service it every 10,000 miles.
"Fascism" described a group of violent authoritarians, pro-industry, autarky, racist, etc. I think we need a new international term for this ilk, one which includes Epstein, corruption, tech worship, incompetence... Would love to hear ideas, but best I can come up with is "Republican."
Balogun had nothing to do with the corruption that put him on the field, just like Neil Gorsuch had nothing to do with the corruption that put him on SCOTUS. But both were keenly aware of it. And both are benefitting from it. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a choice.
Hey @theguardian.com what are you, the Democratic Party? If I've already subscribed *and signed in* stop asking me for money, ffs.
One of the truly incredible parts of "American exceptionalism" is the fact that the leader of the Senate and the President can be married to honest-to-goodness foreign spies and our media just shrugs and moves on.
400 masked cowardly Patriot Front bros walking through D.C. once, then fleeing ain’t shit, peeps. They are a tiny fetid drop in the American bucket. Remember Minneapolis at -20F. We are bigger, braver, and stronger. By a mile.
Guys, all our legal and Constitutional arguments to preserve the 14-Amendment *as written* are 100% correct, but the best way to castrate this corrupt SCOTUS is by revealing their corruption and their connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Do that, get them TF out, then reform SCOTUS & the Constitution.
In case anyone's interested in our efforts at reforestation & green living. The local paper did this piece last weekend on the 1-year anniversary of a horrific derecho storm that leveled 9 million mature trees across town and beyond. Our land north of town was thankfully spared.
Yes, we had some weird shit come through yesterday! I could see the wind moving in three directions up at our place. One (weak) tree down here, over the driveway. The Jaycees' Summer carnival big tent in town got shredded. :-(
Mamdani, AOC, Bernie, Talarico, Ossoff, Lander, Valdez, Chevalier, Kawas, et. al are the start of the #AmericanRenaissance LFG!
Mamdani is following the Vince Lombardi rule in public policy: Be brilliant at the basics.
On year three of our solar panels, I finally got that mostly sunny day near summer solstice. Amusingly, in my eagerness to see how many kilowatts I would generate, I forgot that the first and last couple of hours of the day, had the sun *behind* the panels. #NorthernLife
