Today, I continued my Affordability Tour across our region with a stop in Albany to highlight how the Capital Region Clean Energy Hub helps lower energy costs for local families – and to announce my Regional Energy Hubs Act that will support similar organizations nationwide.

This is a frightening, painful time for our immigrant communities. Through it all, immigration advocacy groups are doing the hard but vital work to support our friends, neighbors, and families. I visited many of these local orgs to express my gratitude for their tireless, compassionate work.

The Affordable Drug Manufacturing Act — part of Democrats’ efforts to deliver an America families can afford — will lower drug costs, expand access to asthma care, and strengthen public health measures so families can afford health care with dignity.

Albany and the surrounding area has one of the highest rates of asthma in the nation, and accessible asthma care and strong preventive public health measures like the ones undertaken here are essential to mitigating the harms caused by asthma and related environmental issues.

Today, I kicked off my summer Affordability Tour with a stop at the Albany Children’s Environmental Center to highlight how the soon-to-be-introduced Affordable Drug Manufacturing Act will help families afford the care they need — particularly for conditions like asthma.

I was proud to secure $850,000 in federal funding for this project through the FY2025 Community Project Funding process, and I look forward to seeing ATEC become a magnet for manufacturers and other companies seeking highly skilled employees.
