Glass beverage bottles used to be returned, sterilised, and refilled hundreds of times before needing to be made into a new glass bottle. A few nations continue this success despite beverage companies lobbying against it. We must bring back the glass bottle as standard. #plasticfreejuly
Having fun letting my #paintings inspire my free-hand #embroidery. Yes, I painted the cloth. . . #oceanart
How people answer this question dramatically impacts their capacity to envision sustainability efforts.
Everything in my personal life, my research, and my work experience has repeatedly confirmed that care is the fabric holding us, and society at large, together. Where have you seen this in your life or your work?
Happy World Orca Day! (belated, it was yesterday). I discovered embroidery and am having so much fun. I was trying cross-stitch, but found it easier to think of the thread as lines, like drawing. So I'm free-handing it all. #oceanart #marineart #orca #whales #embroidery
What Does the Ocean Want Us to Grow? was my most popular #LCAW2026 webinar. I didn't answer the question; I helped build everyone's capacity to answer it for themselves because the only correct answers are place-based. New post on ecologies of scale v economies of scale. link in comments.
My mom and I are sharing these two paths to build your capacity to notice and direct your thoughts. We invite you to share the changes you notice after a month in one of our free workshops for women exploring leadership themes. . . #mindful #mindfulmonth #mindfulness #mindset #mindsetcoaching
My talk "What Does the Ocean Want Us to Grow?" at #LCAW is almost at capacity. I am so moved that people are hungry for this type of question, this type of tangible, systemic change that restores ecosystems and local culture. .. #UKsustainability #oceanart #marineart #biodiversity
The Balearic Islands will require all boat rentals to be 100% electric by 2030 as part of their climate efforts. I can't wait to get an outboard like this one for my own tender! I saw 3 companies offering electric outboards at this event in Portugal.
Women don't need empowerment; we are already powerful. But we breathe differently together. The qualities society labels feminine and therefore dismisses (care, empathy, compassion, connection) are sophisticated leadership capacities that need room to breathe and I'm making that room at #LCAW2026
50 miles offshore. Goggles on, knife in hand. Winds up to 14 knots, the boat bobbing in the swell. Sleep-deprived. Confidence, apparently, comes *after* you do the challenging thing. I was terrified to dive under the boat and cut the line off our propeller, but I emerged from that water changed.
Sitting at the top of the mast, I saw the whole marina and wondered... what if marinas were designed *with* the ecosystem? Curious whether anyone has seen marinas intentionally designed to: - absorb/respond to small fuel leaks - improve water quality - integrate habitat restoration #greensky
What would change if you led with courage instead of certainty? Tomorrow’s free gathering explores courageous leadership as part of a summer series for women looking to embed sustainability into their work. Come to one or join us across all four Saturdays. Registration link in comments.
In honour of Beltane, I'm sharing this post about the amazing tulip tree, some history of the USA, and especially what's been lost and what can grow. May all your seeds root and rise. Photos here, link to article in comments. #beltane #history #environmentalhistory #art #artactivism

Anchored in Machico, Madeira. Small, peaceful spot. #sailing has taught me a lot about letting go, as “sailors write their plans in the sand.” But it’s worth it most days. How else would I survive off joint grant applications? 😅🤣
My cat interrupted, but the language learning tips hold true! I just started a substack called "Not a Travel Journal" notatraveljournal.substack.com to translate some of my journal entries into French and share my language learning journey with you. I hope you enjoy! #learnFrench #languagelearning
This piece is like a page from my travel journal, incorporating my actual night watch thoughts with text. We’d just navigated from the interior lake through Amsterdam and out of the massive North Sea Canal.
Taking the plunge into Etsy! Beginning to list my mixed media work created while sailing the North Sea and the English Channel.

I love #shells and barnacles. Did you know an easy action you can take to protect the ocean is leave shells where you find them? They’re important to ecosystem health. #marinelife #art #oilpastel
My love for #Orca runs deep. Went for flowy water vibes in this #painting They have strong family bonds, dialects, games, hunting strategies, and they teach their young. I paint and draw #marinelife often and share #funfacts 💖🐙🦑🐳🪸🐠
The woman who bought this painting said, “It makes me feel like a mermaid!” and I think that’s the best compliment I’ve ever received. Kelp Forest, acrylic on canvas, 60”x40” #oceanart #kelpforest #painting
#Crossstitch is a meditative practice that keeps me present while letting me dip into creativity. The pattern was only for the bee—I made the wings bigger and added the puns. This world can be cruel and the only way to fight it is with #kindness
I sold a lot of #seaturtle paintings. My husband was sad to see them go, they were his favorites. For our anniversary, I painted this one just for him. It even made it into our sailboat ⛵️💖 and that’s serious downsizing! #painting
