A Connecticut Party was a political party formed by former Republican senator and gubernatorial candidate Lowell Weicker in 1990.[1] Weicker announced his run for Connecticut Governor as a third-party candidate on March 2, 1990. On April 16, he formally unveiled the name of his party as A Connecticut Party. Weicker subsequently won the 1990 gubernatorial election and served a single term as governor of Connecticut. The party was intentionally named to fall alphabetically first on the ballot among the minor parties, with the Republican and Democratic parties not listed alphabetically.[2][3]

It is so weird to have this person president. They cancelled the event because of storms but I uncanceled it because that's what I wanted.

The Crowd at 7:05 in the evening was 422,000 people! All were forced to leave because of the weather, the event was cancelled, and everyone was gone because of lightning. When I heard that it was cancelled, I immediately overturned that decision, and waited a while for people to come back. Incredibly, at least 150,000 people returned, and it was an even more spectacular evening than it would have been as normalized! It showed work under pressure. Congratulations to the Secret Service and Law Enforcement on being able to get so many people back into the Arena in such rapid fashion! It was an amazing evening made even more spectacular by the fact that, immediately after the Great Fireworks ended, the rains came down, full blast! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Title: Can you buy an endowed professorship for yourself?

Don't hate on me for asking this question. It's something I am legitimately considering because my school is in the middle of a large "organizational restructuring" that has placed jobs at risk.

Have you heard of anyone endowing a professorship under the condition that they themselves get to hold the job until they choose to leave it? I could afford to dump at least $1 million into this (which seems to be a reasonable amount to endow a professorship in my humanities field), and I wouldn't mind doing so if it means I get to keep my job (which I received about a decade ago through a totally normal hiring process that did not involve any kind of donations) for as long as I want it.

Obviously there would be some risk to me (like the university closing or me dying before I get a decent return on my million-dollar investment) but I really like my job, I'm fortunate to have some disposable financial resources, and am trying to think about creative ways of ensuring I'm not re-orged out of my academic career as my institution works through its various financial issues.
