w/ Sarah Curro on violin, David Jones composing & drumming live, & guest vocalist Carmen Warrington singing live & on singing bowls for the last three tracks. Six years since this thing started — very grateful to have had the opportunity to share the work so widely.
In 2021 Sarah brought David Jones on board as composer — he wrote an original score & played it live on drums. You might have also seen an early VR presentation of this show at Light Dimension in 2024. This shows how a work like this can have a foot in both art worlds. youtu.be/M3IRGgnOjoc?... 🧵
This one's been six years coming. Back in 2019 Sarah Curro — 1st Violin Section Player w/ the MSO — commissioned the very first VR artworks I ever made: eight visual projections for a live concert. Those 8 pieces became the 1st 8 in my ongoing Circle Series. 🧵
"8" had its Secret Symphony debut last night at The Astor, St Kilda — w/ 1000 tix sold. Secret Symphony is MSO's intimate pop-up series: hand-picked musicians from the orchestra, one night, one secret venue. 🧵
Have been working on a video about my process of making 3D materials & have visited some very beautiful places to gather more images. While editing it’s come to my attention that my fav faux fur coat makes me look like a Babadook that’s getting way too close to random dirt/rocks/sand/mushrooms.
Here's a little video about how some of the 3D materials/textures I have been making have been inspired by, and captured from original photographs I've taken of the natural world around my weird little town...
Went to see Backrooms for the 2nd time at the late showing tonight. Had the whole cinema to ourselves. At the end of the film, we stepped out into the hallway to find this! The very bored legend at the ticket desk must have done that to freak us out. Mission accomplished. Made my night!

Some more, for good measure. Can we ever have enough cats? Or pretty little mushrooms? I think not.
I stumbled across some real-life Amanita Muscaria mushrooms on a walk! Couldn't resist! Making textures & materials is altogether too much fun... 1st photo is a mushroom in the flesh. All the rest are textures that I made from photographing it, placed on 3D models. Amanita Muscaria, rVb, 2026.
Ponderosa Pine Bark, rVb, 2026. Have been making some new textures based on photographs of real-life things from the natural world around me. Autumn is very beautiful in my town. Looking fwd to making something lovely in virtual space w/ some of these soon. A very satisfying exercize!
Taken just now from Lisa Nolan’s amazing exhibition opening at The Unicorn Collection. She painted 100 portraits in 100 days while installed next door to Arts Space Ballarat while I had my exhibition in there Dec 2025-Jan 2026. She was very busy & is very talented! Yay Lisa!!
Feels lovely to get the paints out again tonight. While something renders on the computer, I paint, while it dries, I make edits on the computer… peaceful ❤️
It took me about an hour of listening to the sound of the ice cream maker to realise why it sounded familiar. It sounds like the sound coming out of the TV from that Japanese horror movie RINGU but instead of Sadako you get Sorbet
From our morning walk today. We do not know how that crow got the fish onto the bench all by themselves, but we do think that they were having the very best Easter ever. The swans were, as usual, beautiful & brutal.
I've been trying to log on to VRChat to socially drop in on ppl, but my timing sucks! Sun night US time, but LD was on (& full!) & good for them! I missed out, & was sad, so I went world hopping by myself. Found a new Dr. Morro world, "Patriki". Visited a vintage Dr. Morro world, too! Inspiring ❤️
