Last fall, I planted three or four defunct landscaped areas of my yard with mixes of native wildflower and meadow plants. My neighborhood is sterile and boring has and very few pollinators. The seedlings are starting to grow and I’m out there daily, willing them to grow like I’m in Totoro.

Photography has been keeping me grounded lately, and the work is a much needed source of dopamine. Sometimes you just need to watch a pair of badger brothers wrestle and tickle-fight.

Two American badgers are wrestling. One lies on the ground with his belly up and his nose toward the camera, while the second badger sits behind the first. The second badger's front feet are in the first one's belly hair, as if tickling him, and the first badger's four legs are all straight up in the air as if playfully resisting.

We’re sharing cat photos here, right? She’s a bit spicy but I think this counts… …this is Kali, a Sumatran tiger at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma. This is one of my absolute favorite photos I’ve taken recently.
