I love this Belgian stroop, too. You can see I love it, cos of #stains
Another cracker is this: gherkin sambal, a fantastic amalgam of culinary traditions.
Ok: I admit I was MOVED by @luketurner.bsky.social & @jahduran.bsky.social’s podcast on the Plight of the Ploughman’s and wanted to say, like Bowie, “you’re not alone!” So herewith: a pic n mix Benelux take with the accent on N-Z Holland / Belgium. Details on request
Not sure what this is meant to signify, but here it is, in a corner between two toilets in a Mülheim pub.
Just started on this! Chapeau @littletollerbooks.bsky.social
Reading Bruno Schulz again and I’d forgotten how psychedelic it is: it’s Soft Boys level stuff eh, @robynhitchcock.bsky.social ?
All highly recommended as is From The City From the Plough, which is out on loan
Found this, too and o, my heart - ahem @luketurner.bsky.social
Lovely! May I be so bold as to raise you on the leccy box stakes: seen in Krefeld recently…
And this one: this is one where secrets are well hidden. The “Supp” was Dieter Moebius and Michael Rother. Jaki came too. We got an impromptu Harmonia set….
Going through loads (read, huge bag) of old ticket stubs, of gigs I can’t remember and found this one that is a mental line up. The Ex & NMN. Bleedineck.
This is a Bar for Lord @harrysword.bsky.social to live out his best Van Der Valk life.
This review is *very good* - worthy of the epithet, “Ballardian”, which Andrew didn’t use, of course - that’s down to us readers. This bit is on the money.
This is a quite brilliant essay from Burnham. With plenty of pull quotes. Can he carry it out?
Enjoying the brilliance of Madame Bovary again after *an age*; as a relief from digesting Homais’s awfulness, I gazed at the back cover of my mam’s late 50’s paperback & saw the translator’s name for Confessions… is it a typo/ typeface glitch? The sort of thing @andrewmale.bsky.social would know?
Had a skim through that Graun book list and thought THIS PICTURE FROM A BETTER BOOK SUMS IT ALL UP, AS ANY FULE KNO. (I mean, it’s okay and they’re all worthy books. And those picking know their onions, truly. But. No way I’m reading Jnae Autsni, or her pal Cahrolit Borntè.)
A very good date to dip back into this Dutch classic #meidagen #slagvandenhaag #1940
The new book by @reversediorama.bsky.social is fantastic. I pray & pray in front of my favourite relic for the day when some far out Japanese artist makes it into a manga book and psychedelic cartoon film. It’s also fun for mentally traversing Glesga, too. Recommend!!! @whiterabbitbks.bsky.social
