Trump's rhetoric was presaged by Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) introducing a bill to sanction Canadian officials found "responsible" for the fires, revoke their visas and express a sense of Congress that the Canadian ambassador is a "persona non grata" until the wildfire smoke is gone.

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to add more tariffs on Canada over what he described as "willful negligence" to prevent wildfires that have blanketed much of Ontario and some northern U.S. states with smoke.

"We are holding Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their Forests, and Brush therein, and the United States is being unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous, and totally unacceptable!" Trump wrote in a social media post shared Friday afternoon.

Some politicians in the U.S. on Thursday threatened to sanction, or possibly annex Canada because of smoke from wildfires in Ontario spreading south of the border.

As dozens of wildfires continue to burn in northern Ontario, forcing people from their homes and destroying communities, the smoke has caused air quality warnings in Ontario, but also in multiple states including Michigan, Ohio, New York, Illinois and Indiana.

"Hey Canada, 'just let it burn' is not a solution. Unless you want to become the 51st state, learn to manage your forests," Aric Nesbitt, a Republican state senator in Michigan, said in an online post.

As wildfire smoke blankets parts of the country and spills into the United States, some U.S. lawmakers have sent a letter to the Canadian government saying that "sovereignty comes with responsibility."

Representatives Jack Bergman, John James, Lisa McClain and John Moolenaar penned a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney, and reportedly sent it on Wednesday "demanding immediate action from the Canadian government," a press release said.

"American lungs are paying the price for Canadian inaction, year after year," the letter said.

"Sovereignty comes with responsibility, and the responsibility to prevent a foreseeable disaster from crossing into another country's airspace has not been met."

The province of Ontario is pitching in to help fight the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area.

Premier Doug Ford says the province will send two waterbombers, 165 urban firefighters and an incident management team of up to 20 additional staff to California to assist their efforts in battling the devastating wildfires that have caused thousands of people to flee their homes.

Ford called the scenes out of California "devastating," adding Ontario will "spare no expense to help our closest friends and allies."

He actually bought three dragons: the one on the stick that Springer ran out to Clase, which lights up and growls when you press its ear, another dragon puppet and a smaller toy. Before the game, manager John Schneider walked into the batting cage and saw Guerrero and catcher Brandon Valenzuela petting the dragon on a stick. Later, Guerrero was playfully hitting Valenzuela over the head with it.
