Keeper (2025). $6mil budget, box office only $6.2mil & imo undeserving of the middling reviews. Acting is great, creature designs are so fun, & an effective use of its budget. A good/less heavy entry point to folk horror, possibly some pacing issues at the reveal but to me it gives it rewatch value.

Even if Hollywood tries to mine our brave Quora posting like “Can you legally kill a bald eagle if it's attacking your family or your animals?” for hit movies that basically write themselves, the industry would already be a whole trilogy too late. We don’t need them, we have always had the answers.

Burger Priest is good tho & is made by a Californian 😭 Isn’t California famous for smash burger chains?? I’ve seen the food America has at state fairs, why are we mad at Toronto burger? My fave’s The Priest, it’s a cheese burg topped with a panko crusted & deep fried, cheese stuffed mushroom cap 🤤

It all began in California, where our founder, Shant Mardirosian grew up. He had always revered a fresh, classic old-fashioned burger but finding one was becoming increasingly rare in a world of apparent burger defilement. Frozen patties. Over-seasoned and compromised beef quality. Order speed over a burger-eating experience that was fresh and perfect every time.
And so the mission began, whether he knew it at the time or not.
Fast forward years later, he found himself in Toronto attending Seminary school with plans of becoming a priest. But something didn't feel quite right. He hoped that his true calling would reveal itself.
Lucky for us (and burger lovers writ large) it finally did. A giant leap of faith was taken and shortly thereafter, The Burger's Priest restaurant was conceived.
You could call it divine inspiration in service of burger redemption.

I wish we saw that ecosystem health is our health too. It’s really empowering b/c it gives you the resources & framework needed to move past fear into educated action for community & self. COVID-19 didn’t shock me b/c I had a basic interest in ecology & the 2014 & 2017 Madagascar plague outbreak.

• Multiple anthropogenic drivers promote zoonotic pathogen spillover and disease emergence, such as land-use change, intensive livestock production, wildlife trade, and climate change
• Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on biodiversity and ecosystem health can exacerbate drivers of zoonotic and infectious
disease emergence, increasing the risk for future zoonotic pathogen spillover events and possible public health crises; these cyclic relationships create a positive feedback loop
• Biodiversity and ecosystem health effects of
COVID-19 are diverse and interconnected, and include effects on conservation funding,
tourism, environmental policy, Indigenous land managers, and human-wildlife contact
• Decision makers should consider how actions and strategies in response to COVID-19 could affect drivers of zoonotic disease, biodiversity, and ecosystem health, and urgently act to minimise their negative effects and feedback loops.

Biodiversity loss and ecosystem health are strongly linked to human health.

The emergence of a zoonotic pathogen in humans, such as SARS-CoV-2, was not unpredicted. Of the novel or re-emerging infectious diseases affecting humans in the 21st century, most (75%) have been zoonotic in origin, with their natural reservoirs being other vertebrates. The majority (over 70%) of
these diseases with zoonotic origin have originated from wildlife, such as HIV/AIDS, the Ebola virus, and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Globally, known events of zoonotic disease emerging from wildlife have significantly increased over the past 80 years raising public health, economic, societal and environmental concerns, as exemplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. The current weight of evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2, or its progenitor, probably emerged in humans from a zoonotic source in Wuhan, China, where it was first identified in 2019. Although evidence on the origins of SARS-CoV-2 are inconclusive, bats have been suggested to be the most probable evolutionary source for the virus.

Key anthropogenic drivers of zoonotic disease emergence (eg, including land-use change, wildlife trade, intensive livestock production, and climate change) increase the likelihood of zoonotic disease emergence, which could result in public health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Such crises could have negative effects on biodiversity and ecosystem health, as COVID-19 has had and could continue to have (appendix pp 11-21). These effects can consequently exacerbate the drivers, leading to further emergence of zoonosis and potential future health crises with their own suite of effects. The continuation of this cycle would reinforce a feedback loop with substantial implications for human health, economies, society, and the environment.

So hyped for season 4 #FROMily. Very ready to learn what these sack boy monsters are about. Whatever they are, they look like they’re covered in straw that was rotted by the same mold that made the Colony House vegetables go rotten.

People lost it when they had to kinda stay in the house for a few weeks, we’re so not built for space stress. Alternatively, we could reduce light pollution so we can all see space better while being cozy here on earth and leave space travel to the professionals.
