I took my dad out to lunch the other day and always enjoy driving past this horse ranch on the way to his house.
If there's a better way to spend a Thursday than beside a mountain stream with two old dogs, I've certainly never heard of it.
The black-footed ferret is North America's most endangered mammal. Once declared extinct, their wild population has been rebuilt to roughly 400 individuals through captive breeding & reintroduction. This one was found near the captive breeding facility in Northern Colorado. #wildlife #conservation
EVERYONE LOOK!! A few weeks ago I caught a piece of cottonwood fluff out of the air and planted it. Now look!
No. I had to climb up the rocks at the top of this photo. It wasn't as steep approaching from the back, but I couldn't find the cache and after 20 minutes needed to climb down for some water. I was going to go back for a second look but decided to skip it. I figured once was enough. 🤣
On the way to a geocache I never found. A T4 rating in the Rocky Mountains is getting to be too much for this nearly 60 year old. But it was still a great hike. #geocaching #outdoors
This time last year we were getting ready to leave for Madagascar. This 400-year-old baobab tree was one of many highlights.
Some hungry Northern flicker chicks and their hard-working dad. Colorado. 🪶
We had a wonderful thunderstorm earlier this evening, then Mother Nature topped it off with this glorious sunset.
My first time growing garlic. If I had known how well they’d do I would have planted more. 🧄
Today is Well Gulch Wednesday. It’s was overcast and gloriously cool for our hike.
We don’t see a lot of monarch butterflies around here, so we were delighted to find this one on a milkweed plant near our house during our morning walk. I hope she’s laying eggs!
I traveled to the middle of nowhere today to visit my dad for Father's Day.
Please stop what you’re doing and wish Taz a happy 13th birthday! He’s a good boy.
Black-mantled tamarins. Ecuador. #wildlife #wildlifephotography #nature #outdoors
I was sitting on our porch reading when the wind blew some cottonwood fluff onto my arm. I saw a little seed tucked inside so I decided to plant it. Maybe we’ll have a huge cottonwood tree growing in our yard one day. 🌳
My husband and I got up early this morning to check out an osprey nest. They were quite a distance away and high up on a nesting platform, but we still managed some halfway decent material. One of my husband's photos is in the comments. 🪶
Apparently I can only upload one video at a time. Here’s the Pygmy Nuthatch at the opening to the same cavity as the Mountain Bluebird, just a few minutes after the bluebird left. I thought it was odd. 🪶
