Dear @egu.eu I received the same email about Elections this Autumn more than 10 times. Can you please investigate this issue, please?
I’ll be attending #EGU26 (@egu.eu) in Vienna next week, and I’d be very happy to chat with fellow #EarthScientists interested in stress, fractures, fault stability, geoenergy, 4D imaging, or rocks doing complicated things. ⚒️ You can definitely find me at:
We show some rather intriguing insights into how fluid-rock interactions drive deformation, and crucially, sheds light on natural carbonation processes – super relevant for #GeoEnergy and #CarbonCapture.
What we found: Hydrogen doesn't politely seep through rock - it bursts through in sudden jumps! It also flows unevenly, sometimes stopping and starting again in certain places.
Why care? Storing hydrogen in underground rock formations could be a brilliant way to bank renewable energy. Store excess electricity from sunny or windy days as hydrogen, then convert it back when needed.
Second leg of my #Train2EGU journey: from Frankfurt to Vienna. For now, the view is not the best... 😅 Maybe better get back to my readings. 😆 #EGU25
Back in the stunning Scottish #Highlands and basking in sunshine I certainly wasn't expecting! ☀️ After living in 🏴 for a while, I've seen my fair share of Highland weather, and this is a treat. The panoramas are even more breathtaking under these blue skies. A proper "come back" indeed. #Scotland
La #Resistenza continua anche dall'estero! Grazie @possibileit.bsky.social @firenzepossibile.bsky.social
Get ready for a groundbreaking #EGU25 Session ERE5.2! If you’re exploring #Faults & #Fractures for #GeoEnergy, #Geothermal, or #CCS, submit your cutting-edge research before Jan 15. Let’s help shape a more sustainable #EnergyTransition together. meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU25/sessio...
Today is #StrikeDay. Protesting against the enormous cuts that are happening in high-education here in the #Netherland.
Those big "Damage" and"Failure"... look a bit ominous! 🤣🤣 And yes... if it wasn't clear enough, I do like fractures!
Exciting news! Our latest research on "Modelling Geological CO2 Leakage: Integrating Fracture Permeability and Fault Zone Outcrop Analysis" is now published and open access! Check it out ➡️ authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S... ⚒️ #CCS #GeologicalStorage #Faults #Fractures
Today @FlorenceUni we started setting up the Petrophysics Lab. Today we unboxed the PoroPerm... 😎😎
Join us for EGU24 sessions: ERE5.2: Monitoring & lab results in Geoenergy with Mike Heap (@rocklabstrasbourg.bsky.social) & Alan Bischoff tinyurl.com/2ck6b3wx ERE5.3: Numerical modelling with Qinghua Lei. tinyurl.com/28xnwdf6 📅 Submit your abstracts by 10 Jan '24! @eurogeosciences.bsky.social ⚒️🧪
⚒️ Yesterday, our Earth Sciences department (Florence Uni) explored the historic copper mines nestled within an Ophiolitic body in Montecatini Val di Cecina, #Tuscany. Thrilled to kick off our official collaboration with the town council for #outreach and #scientific endeavors!
Hi there! I'm Roberto, a Researcher at the Uni of Florence, diving deep into Rock Physics & Structural Geology. 🪨 With the help of deformation apparatus, synchrotron X-rays & deep-learning I try to uncover the secrets behind rock strain patterns, fault localisation, and their physical properties. 🌍🔍
Today we did a long but wonderful 29.5km hike from Gambassi Terme to San Gimignano and back along the #ViaFrancigena. The beauty of nature truly shines on this trail. Sharing some snapshots from my journey. #Hiking #SanGimignano #NatureWalks 📷"
First attempt with Bluesky. Joint field trip with students from Uni of Florence and Naples on the Pyrenees. Magnific!
