Fifteen years ago, Matthew Johnson was announced to write and direct an ENCYCLOPEDIA BROWN movie. I assume that’s not happening but I hope when this IP does get mind eventually, projectionists have to fast forward to the end of the movie every ten minutes to reveal how Brown solved the crime.

Chip Zdarsky is a funny dude. This collection of a monthly comic zine he made and gave away for free for eighteen months is a funny book. I’m a fan of comics because of Wizard and its irreverent approach to comic book journalism. This Zdarsky Zcollection made me feel like a kid reading Wizard again.
I’m a big fan of Danny McBride so it’s not a huge surprise I was also a big fan of his debut short story collection. It’s funny, dark and beautiful wallows in the bleakness that is modern manhood. Just cover to cover sad little dudes trying the best they can. Like if Ray Bradbury owned a Ski-doo.
Imagine if Jim Jarmusch had made MYSTERY TRAIN in Memphis when there was a giant pyramid-shaped Bass Pro Shop he could have filmed in. Watching Jim Jarmusch films makes me wish I was cooler. The kind of person not as easily impressed with giant pyramid-shaped Bass Pro Shops.

SIX-STRING SAMURAI is a small miracle that could only have been made during a very specific time, namely the post-SWINGERS era, when we all got into rockabilly music and indie films were being made on a shoestring budget yet still shot on film. What fun to watch with an audience last night.

I finally checked out some of the new EC Comics stuff that Oni is putting out. I love a good horror shot and these comics are packed with gorgeous art and smart writing. Can’t wait to check out more!
The human figure can be inserted into the hollow rubber werewolf figure, like some kind of deviant training on how to use a condom. Also, it comes with a red stamp you can dip your werewolf's claws in to simulate a bloody attack. The toy deserved a better movie than VEN HELSING, that's for sure.
